Pierre Dukan’s – PROTAL diet

4 Phases for a durable weight loss, with natural proteins

Official site: http://www.thedukandiet.org/

You’ve tried already several times to loose weight but were unsuccessful ? Here is one of the most performing and satisfying loss weight program !

The method comprises 4 successive steps: the Attack phase with purely natural proteins to boot-start a fast weight loss in less than a week, the Weight Loss phase with alternative proteins during which you’ll reach your target weight, the Stabilization phase with the re-introduction of all type of foods and finally the definitive Cruise phase.

Before_Starting

As you’ll notice, the “Dukan Diet” weight loss concept is mainly based on alternative proteins that are acting like a 2 cycles engine with a diet period of pure protein and a symmetrical diet period mixing proteins and vegetables, hence the name Protal for “Proteines alternatives” (alternative proteins).

• Protal

offers a set of rules, precise and easy to follow, that doesn’t let room for false interpretations or false excuses.

• Protal is extremely efficient and 100% natural. The initial weight loss during the boot phase (“Attack”) reinforce the motivation to keep going.

• Protal doesn’t require weighing food or counting calories and doesn’t impose any quantity limits.

Before starting…

Before going into the details of the different phases, here are several things that you should bear in mind.

It’s all about you!!!

Well, this method, no question about it, delivers outstanding results… as long as you stick with it !! The rule number one is to set your goals upfront and to recognize when to stop (basically once you achieve your objective). The rule number two is to weight yourself a lot – at least once a day – in order to maintain your awareness, through the day, of what you’re trying to accomplish.

Natu

ral Pure Proteins ?

The “Dukan Diet” relies heavily on natural proteins. Theoretically, besides white eggs, there’s no natural pure protein aliment. It’s then require to select and group a set of aliments whose contents are as close as possible to pure proteins, like some types of meat, fish, seafood, poultry, eggs and fat-free dairy products. Go here to get more information on carbs vs lipids vs prot

eins.

Quantities ?

Both the Attack and the Weight Loss phases are completely all-you-can-eat ! Anytime during the day, any mix of selected food and with no limits ! This is wonderful to fight against cravings and to control hunger through quantitative compensations…

Budget ?

Well one of major issue of natural proteins is about your wallet…Yes fresh and tasteful beef, fish and seafood are expensive. Poultry and eggs are way more affordable, but you’ll need diversity to go through the program without getting bored of eating all of the same, everyday. Fortunately, it’s pretty common and easy nowadays to find fat-free, sugar free diaries that will counter balance the cost of protein-based meal.

Side effects ?

Proteins are not completely assimilated by your body, hence they have to be eliminated. This task is perfectly taken care of thanks to our kidneys as long as you increase your daily intakes of liquid. It will be then required to hydrate yourself more during the diet, especially during the pure proteins phases – at least 2 liters of mineral water is highly recommended.

Attack

What?

This phase is the kick-start of

the whole diet program. The weigh loss is usually outstanding and also extremely rewarding and motivating. It’s the easiest phase in term of what to or not to eat. It’s also the one that doesn’t tolerate any deviation. Stick with the list and you’ll be happy. This phase has usually a very positive psychologic impact, thanks to the results obtained in such a short but intense battle with yourself.

The duration of the Attack phase is usually only around 5 days. It does depend however on your endeavor. The rule of thumb is usually:
– if you plan to loose less than 10 lbs, duration is only 2 days. Weigh loss is 1 to 3 lbs during this phase
– if you plan to loose less than 20 lbs, duration is only 3 days. Weigh loss is 3 to 5 lbs during this phase.
– if you plan to loose less than 40 lbs, duration is only 5 days. Weigh loss is 4 to 6 lbs during this phase.
– if you

plan to loose more than 40 lbs, duration is at least 7 days.

Please note, it shouldn’t exceed 10 days and if you’re in this situation, drink a lot, a lot of water and please check first with your doctor.

The basic rule is to eat only proteins. This phase is also called PP for Pure Proteins.Basically you can eat, only:

1. Veal and Beef: steak, filet, ground beef (<10% fat)… well almost everything except T-Bones. You can’t use butter or any fat to panfry, so be creative: use a non-stick pan, grill, bbq or roast the meat in the oven. You can cook it the way you want but, for your information, the more the meat is cooked, the less grease will remain, hence getting closer to pure protein.

2. Poultry (except duck and goose). Try to eat the white meat first and avoid the dark meat and the crispy skin in roasted chicken. Sliced smoked turkey are convenient if you travel and extremely lean.
I usually cook chicken breast s

trips with some lemon juice and paprika… yummy !!!

3. All seafood and fishes (steamed, smoked, grilled), but not canned with olive oil!!! Surimi (imitation crabmeat) is a perfect snack. Some fishes are pretty moist even after being cooked in the oven: orange roughy, black cod, monkfish, sea bass and so on…
I’m personally a big fan of smoked salmon for breakfast….

4. Eggs (pure white if you can or egg beater). Eggs should be limited to 3-4 per week if you keep the yolk, unlimited

otherwise.
I usually go with egg beater, splenda and cinnamon (and a pinch of non-fat cooking spray if you don’t want to ruin your pans)!!!

5. Fat free dairy (milk, plain yogurt or cottage cheese). I highly recommend the organic fat free milk from Central Market (HEB) and Horizon. For the yogurt, try the plain fat free yogurt from Cascade Fresh, and if you’re looking for something different, Fage is making a fat free version of its Greek yogurt. I don’t recommend fat free yogurt with fruit pulp in phase 1, but if you really have a problem with plain yogurt, you can have one cup of fruity, fat free, sugar free, yogurt per day. I highly recommend the fat free Light & Fit yogurt from Dannon. Fat free milk can be used with tea or coffee or to prepare sugar free flans, sauces an creams.

6. You really need to drink a lot of water. All mineral waters are recommended, especially the diuretic ones. Avoid sparkling waters as they are too salty (except the Perrier). I love drinking Evian, that could be found at Whole Foods and Central Market

Please note:
– you can use some aspartame or splenda if needed
– vinegars, herbs, thyme, parsley, onions, garlic,…and most spices are authorized and highly recommended to improve the taste and create some diversity in your meals.
– salt an

d mustards are authorized but in small quantities (make sure you don’t take sugar-added mustard. I recommend the plain mustard from Maille).
– you can drink diet sodas but not gallons because of the sodium
– there’s a bunch of fat free, sugar free candies at World Market. Try the Licorette or the Läkerol pastilles.

and as many as you want: unlimited, whenever you want !!

Besides the benefits of proteins on the calories intake (see here for details), protein based meal are reducing the appetite (especially compared to fatty junk food!!). Usually after 3 or 4 days of protein-based meal, the hunger disappear almost completely, so hang on!!! It makes the rest of the process much easier when you don’t have to deal, as in most diet, with this: hunger !!!

Do

– eat whenever you’re hungry, but only using the list above. it’s the best way to counterbalance treats deprivation.
– carry constantly with you some of those foods to fight cravings.
– make the mental exercise of ensuring the appropriateness of the product you’re about to eat.
– weigh yourself everyday to measure your progress and stay motivated. You can also weigh yourself several time a day. You’ll be amazed by the changes.
– drink

a lot of water, at least 2 liters per day, if possible diuretic waters (see here): you need to cleanse your body from all the protein waste. Try to drink 2 glasses of water during your meals.
– take multi vitamin supplement if the phase is to last more than 5 days.
– take a bit of flax oil if you experience intestinal transit problems, but normally increasing a lot you water intakes should take care of this.

Don’t

– don’t e

xercise intensively. Your body may be naturally tired the first 3 days.
– don’t skip any meal. You need to maintain the routine, even-though you’ll notice you’re going to reduce progressively your intakes.
– don’t use butter or oil. Steam, grilled or smoke (Rudy’s fan, you know where to go).
– don’t eat bread or cereals for breakfast. Try smoked salmon, fat free yogurts, or egg beaters omelets.
– don’t add sugar, fruit or jelly in your fat free dairies.
– don’t use ketchup (too much sugar).
– don’t go to restaurants during phase I, it would be very frustrating. If you really have to (business trip), go to a steak house and have some grilled beef.
– reduce salt. it increases yo

ur appetite and doesn’t help flushing the fluids.

Summary

Weight Scales

Duration is between 2 to 7 days.

This phase is done exclusively with pure proteins. It’s the most challenging and rewarding phase. It’s a strong foundation for the success of the whole program.

This phase requires absolutely no deviation, no pause, no excuse….and no exercise !!

Please note: this phase is

also used in phase 2.

Second Phase - Weight Loss

What?

This is the phase that will lead you to the target weigh loss you wished before starting the diet.

This phase is in-fact structured in 2 alternated sub-phases that will end once you reach your goal. The sub-phases are:
– a sub-p

hase of vegetable with proteins (PL)
– a sub-phase with only proteins (PP)

We’ve just covered the pure proteins (PP) for the Attack phase. This section will cover more in details the Proteins + Vegetable phase (PL for Legume).

There’s no rule of thumb about the duration of each phase. As per Dr Dukan, the best result are achieved when each sub-phases last 5 days. I personally prefer to alternate every 7 days. Monday to Sunday. It fits better with my agenda if I need to plan for some business trip (PP is tough with business trip :().

The good news is that all the rules that applies in PP, applies also in PL. This means you can eat as much as you want, anytime you want. All the foods that were listed in the Attack Phase, are yours forever. In the PL phase, we are mainly adding the missing savor of vegetables…

You can mix and match proteins and vegetables as you want, but don’t make the mistake of solely eating vegetables during the PL phase. You need to feed yourself with proteins.

The allowed vegetables are (raw or cooked):
– tomatoes, cucumbers, radish, spinach, broccoli, asparagus, leeks, cabbages, mushrooms, celery, fennel, zucchinis, egg plant, bell peppers, any types of salad and even carrots and beets (moderatly)

All the starchy food is still banned:
– rice, potatoes, corn, all peas and beans, lentils and of course avocados (considered a fruit btw)

Artichoke is allowed but in very limited quantities.

Dressing:
As mentioned before, oil is not your friend in this diet program. You need to use some fat free, no sugar-added dressings. Central Market has a very good one. Or be creative, use lemon juice, fat free yogurt, vinegars (my fa

vorite: raspberry), herbs or spices.

Cooking method:
No oil. No butter. Use some cooking spray or boil them in water with some spices. Or even better buy a steamer and some fresh organic veggies from Whole foods. You’ll rediscover the genuine taste of broccoli !!
Another favorite is BBQ (especially the asparagus !!). You can also cook the vegetables directly with fish or beef and take advantage of some of the fat from the meat (like in a stew).

This phase will lead you to your target weight. You can expect on average to loose 2 to 3 lbs per week eating as much as you want. Of course there will be some days, even weeks, where the weight loss may not be, unfortunately, what you expect. Hang on there !! This is normal, especially during the PL sub-phases, but as long as you keep alternating PLs and PPs, you should enjoy roughly that rate.

Do

– alternate consecutive days of PL with consecutive days of PP. Dr Dukan recommends 5 days cycles.
– go to steak house and ask for the steamed veggies
– eat whenever you’re hungry, but only using the list above. it’s the best way to counterbalance treats deprivation.
– carry constantly with you some of those foods to fight cravings.
– make the mental exercise of ensuring the appropriateness of the product you’re about to eat.
– weigh yourself

everyday to measure your progress and stay motivated. You can also weigh yourself several time a day. You’ll be amazed by the changes.
– drink a lot of water, at least 2 liters per day, if possible diuretic waters (see here): you need to cleanse your body from all the protein waste. Try to drink 2 glasses of water during your meals.
– take multi vitamin supplement if the phase is to last more than 5 days.
– take a bit of flax oil if you experience intestinal transit problems, but normally increasing a lot you water intakes should take care of this.

Don’t

– in case you decide to stop here, don’t stop !! Don’t give up before you reach your target !
– in case you’re really giving up, do the stabilization phase if you don’t want to gain back right away all those deserved lost pounds.
– don’t skip any meal. You need to maintain the routine, even-though you’ll notice you’re going to reduce progressively your intakes.
– don’t use butter or oil. Steam, grilled or smoke (Rudy’s fan, you know where to go).
– don’t eat bread o

r cereals for breakfast. Try smoked salmon, fat free yogurts, or egg beaters omelets.
– don’t add sugar, fruit or jelly in your fat free dairies.
– don’t use ketchup (too much sugar).
– reduce salt. it increases your appetite and doesn’t help flushing the fluids.

Summary

Arrow

Duration is based on an average 2-3 pounds loss per week.

This phase alternates proteins with vegetables. This is the phase that will bring you to your target weight.

Stabilization Phase

What?

Congratulation, you achieved your goal !!! Beware now that all those lost pounds and frustrations are in fact on stake if you don’t pursue correctly the stabilization phase. It’s absolutely required to go through this phase. It’s true that you

deserve the result you achieved but don’t overestimate yet your ability to control your weight from now. Triumphalism is a dangerous emotion. The weight you managed to touch is not granted yet.. you need to go now through this last effort to make it yours, forever.

You’ve just finished the Weight Loss phase with the PL sub-phase, and for the first time this morning, the weight scale is displaying the number you’ve been fanatically dreaming of. Warning, if you’re tempted about going further hoping to secure a buffer before starting the consolidation, don’t : you need to focus on your next challenge now.

I’m going to provide to you the rules you’ll have to comply with for the stabilization but first let’s talk about duration. Your body has to get acquainted now with your new weight. This takes time if you want to secure your efforts. The basic formula is to consider 4 days 1/2 per lb. So let’s say you lost 20 lbs, you’ll need then to comply with the stabilization phase for 90 days.

Weight Loss Formula

So what can you eat….

1/ The first good news is that you don’t have to alternate anymore PL and PP sub-phases: the stabilization phase is based on the PL aliments as described before.

2/ We are also reintroducing in this phase all the foods we’ve missed during phase I and II, but with the following restrictions:
– one serving

of fruit per day. All the fruits are authorized but bananas, grapes, cherries and nuts.
– 2 slices of whole wheat bread per day.
– one serving of cheese per day (around 40g).
– 2 serving of starch food per week (pasta, couscous – 7 oz / lentils, rice, potatoes – 5 oz). Avoid butter and oil as much as you can to cook those.
– once or twice per week, you can have the following new meats: lamb, porc, ham.

3/ now the good news. in this phase you’re also allowed 2 full unrestricted meal per week but with the following guidelines:
– 2 meals not 2 days
– no refill !
– the 2 meals have to be apart by at least a day

You’re allowed to have a whole lunch or dinner, including wine and desert. Of course, you need to be moderate, if you’re planning to drink a whole bottle of wine, have some Queso and finish with a whole cheesecake, you missed the point. Those 2 meals are bringing diversity and quality, don’t make them orgies. I would suggest going to some fine restaurant with reasonable serving sizes.

Enjoy those frugal meals, Take the time to appreciate the savors you’re rediscovering. Question yourself about the subtlety of the food you’re enjoying.

4/ In order to counter balance those unrestricted meals, you need to keep one, just one day of PP per week. Try to pick up the same day every week, like the monday. It’s up to you to decide for the day but you need to stick with that day as much as possible.

Do

– comply with the calculated duration
– keep track of the food you’re having on a weekly basis to ensure you’re complying with the rules
– enjoy your unrestricted meals
– carry constantly with you some of those foods to fight cravings.
– make the mental exercise of ensuring the appropriateness of the product you’re about to eat.
– weigh yourself everyday to measure your progress and stay motivated. You can also weigh yourself several time a day. You’ll be amazed by the changes.
– drink a lot of water, at least 2 liters per day, if possible diuretic waters (see here): you need to cleanse your body from all the protein waste. Try to drink 2 glasses of water during your meals.
– take multi vitamin supplement if the phase is to last more than 5 days.

Don’t

– don’t take any refill during your unrestricted meals.
– don’t have your two unrestricted meals in a row.
– don’t confuse “twice a week” with two days a week 😀
– don’t skip any meal. You need to maintain the routine, even-though you’ll notice you’re going to reduce progressively your intakes.
– don’t use excessively butter or oil. Steam, grilled or smoke (Rudy’s fan, you know where to go).
– reduce salt. it increases your appetite and doesn’t help flushing the fluids.

Summary

The duration is an average of 9 days per 2 pounds lost during phase.

This phase is aiming at hampering gettig those lost pounds back!

This is the phase where you’re the most vulnerable mainly because of your overconfidence .
In this phase, you can almost eat anything you want but with some (small) restrictions and progressive food re-introductions.

Summary

Forever.

Finally ! This is your daily life. Your only commitment is a unique day per week of pure proteins.

Excellent recapitulation of the Protal Plan. You’re missing one important thing in the last stage: every day (for the rest of your life) you need to also eat 3 tablespoons of oat bran every day. Mix them with food or water or (he recommends in his book) make a pancake with the bran in it.

It seems to me that I’ve missed that part in the book. Let me check and I will add it here. 10x for the remark.
By the way I have managed to lose 13kg so far with minimum loss of muscle mass using “Protal”. It is seems to me that this is the best one I’ve tried for a while.

I am confused because in the book Je ne sais pas maigrir it is not mentioned!

According to my results, it is fine to make some exceptions as long as they are important for you (everybody has something small that cannot make due without) and they do not render the whole diet pointless.
As an example – for me milk is something that I cannot really live without. I use it always in my coffee, tea and with cereals. I always try to use fat free milk or at least low fat products if possible. Of course, at times I would not find low fat milk, so I used whatever I could find.
Keeping that in mind and looking at my results – I have managed to lose 13 kg following the Protal Plan with minor slip ups – like the milk for example.

Hello! I would like to share some thoughts in this forum.
8 years ago a passed a brain surgery, which have a side effect – the metabolism of my body is very very low. As a result I put exctra weight. My doctor perscribed me “Reductil” but it did not help me- i dont gain more weight, but I do not lose weight either. Now I have started the above diet and folloing it very stricltly. I am in the first phase for 7 days but I still have NO change in my weight. My questions: Is it good the first phase to continue more than 10 days?By the way, I am drinking about 2 liters/day of water.

  11. admin
    June 9, 2008

Hi, My first phase continued about 15 days. However, it is quite risky since during that phase the body starts to build up high level of toxins. That is the reason to increase your water intake. Judging by my experience so far, it is not recommended to exceed 15 day limit during this phase. Even so, after the 10th day you have to drastically increase your water intake. Between the 10th and the 15th day I started drinking about 4,5 -5 liters/day. It was difficult but the water helps cleansing the toxins.
I hope this information helps, if not, please, let me know.
Btw, I will check up on that “Reductil” drug – do you still take it?

    – 1 egg
    – 2 egg white

    Directions

    2. Add a little bit of baking soda (optional)
    3. Cook pancakes as you’d normally do!
    4. What we usually do:.
    5. Coat a nonstick skillet with a little bit of oil using a papertowel.
    6. keep the pan on mid-low heat.
    7. Pour a ladel of batter into pan.
    8. Cook one side until the edges start to seem done.

Do you know what actually confuses me.dr Dukan doesn`t say anything about so many rich in protein foods……

  19. allanon
    June 26, 2008

Hi, Eva. About your first question – don’t deprive yourself of everything you like. If you don’t abuse it, use it :). What I am trying to say is, if you eat those Jello’s in such quantity that it does not tip the scale of the diet, you can probably get away with it.
The best thing to do here is to pick a certain day from the week and to eat your favorite food only then. It is what I did.
Concerning popcorn without butter; my advice is – try not to stick to the Protal Plan very strictly. I use it more like guidelines. The truth is different for each of us. Since I am a veteran of dieting, during the years I discovered which foods agree with me and which do not. For example: some foods do terrible things to some people but are beneficial for others. Just try it out :). Find out your own truth. The balance is the key here.
btw, what is your goal with this diet?

Question-how about alkohol? Can you have some?

  29. allanon
    June 30, 2008

Hi, Eva. I presume the reason for that is the amount of fats that are contained in all kinds of nuts. Even though the fats in nuts are the best ones – Omega-3, and they are very, very healthy and beneficial – they are still fats:
    – 1 gram of fat contains – 9 calories;
    – 1 gram of protein contains – 3 calories;
-1 gram of carbs contains – 3 calories.
So in order to lose weight you should cut on fats – even good ones (for a time, of course).

Hi, Martcha. Indeed, this particular diet is excellent and proven to be working. A word of caution, though: since it is based on high protein intake, it increases the workload of the liver DRAMATICALLY and leads to increased toxicity levels. It is imperative to follow all time windows provide by Mr. Pierre Dukan during the different PROTAL diet stages in order to keep your liver within safe work limits. Also drink a lot of water. It will keep the toxicity levels at bay. My personal recommendation is: male adult – 3,5 to 4,5 liters per 1 day; female adult – 2,9 to 3,6 liters for 1 day. I wish a luck in your diet and take care. If you need our assistance or you want to share your experience write here or contacts us on [email protected]

How many meals should I have during the day? and one more question, is 1,5 liter of liquid enough per day. I have low blood pressure and I can hardly drink this amount. Is there any connection? should I drink more or is that satisfactory? and ahead I thank anybody for replying me

    Hi Jagoda,
I would suggest that you eat at least 4 times a day. If it is possible, the best thing is to eat 5 times.
Concerning water, 1,5 liters is not enough. Try to drink at least 3 liters on daily basis. It is not easy – believe me, I know 🙂

Please, check the post of ‘allanon’ – number 34 about water consumption.
As for the number of meals – I think 5 times per one day is excessive. For me, 4 times is enough…

Hello everyone! I have succeeded to lose 16 kg by following Pierre Dukan’s diet. I feel great, more energetic and I have no troubles keeping my weight. For me, the Protal Diet Plan is an excellent way to improve one’s general wellness. As a perk – I even managed to get used to eating from 4 to 5 times a day which is gradually improving my overall eating habits and body condition. I am preparing a section called “Pierre Dukan Diet Testimonials” in which I will include pictures from my success.

I’ve read the book and I started my died on Aug 5th. So far, I’ve elminated 15 pounds, and I’m feeling absolutely great.
But I have a doubt: in the book, the oat bran is introduced only in the stabilization phase. But when we read the recipes, we see the oat bran since the beggining of the suggested diets.
As I’m facing some constipation problems, I would like to check with this group the correct understanding about when the oat bran can be introduced. I’ve read the James Brister post about this topic, and maybe he can help me.
    Thanks a lot 🙂

First of all, congratulations on your success using Dukan’s diet. Concerning oat bran, I’ve double checked and it should be only consumed during the stabilization phase.
About the constipation problems, I managed to “fix” the issue with coffee and different types of tea. If you’d like I can check and give you the type of tea used.

I’m looking for people who are following the Dukan diet.
I’m willing to use an every day update with any one who needs support like me!
I know this diet very well, because I did it last year, but unfortunately, I did not do the stabilization so I put almost all the weight back on.
Today, I need some motivated people to talk evrey day about our life with Dukan.
    I’m 28 and I live in France.
I’m studying and I love traveling.
If you are interested leave a message on my website. Cheers!

    Hello Marcia,

The oat bran is allowed from the beginning.
    Never go over 2 tablespoon.

As for the constipation problem use some special water or tea.
When you are in PL or PV days, try to select veggies that will help you go to the toilet! ( in my case, spinach works well) 🙂

    Hello Everyone
I scanned some of your post and I must say, there are a few mistake!
I know Dukan by heart and I now it works, but only if you are serious about it and if you follow the rules, from the beginning.

I saw a recipe of the galette with 4 tablespoons of oat bran: you should not exceed 2 TBS per day. So if you use that recipe, you should use it in 2 days.

No alcohol. Why because, it’s sugar. Not allowed at all.

I’ll be happy to help more!
So if you have any question do not hesitate!

    Hi all,
    Thanks for the replies.
I’m doing a turnaround with Benefiber added to water or tea. It’s been helpful.
So far, since Aug 5th, I’ve already eliminated 10 kilos. What is absolutely great. I’ve been very VERY attached to the plan, no one moment of fail.
    Why?
Because Dukan Diet is the first diet I see a proposal to the “return to the real life” with foods and timing: it makes sense and I believe in it.
I’ll continue without the oatbran, unless it’s extremely necessary.
But I can say: if you do the diet, it works.
My brother in Brazil is also doing it, and we are supporting each other, by phone/email, all the time. It’s been working great for him too (so far, he’s eliminated 12 kilos, in the same period I did).
Let’s continue this fantastic and supporting conversation!

    thanks
    Regards
    Marcia

    Hello Marcia,

Yes it works…But you have to go through all the phases. Otherwise, like I did, you will but all the weight back within a few months.

Where do you live? I’m sure you can get it from a special shop. you know, you should get used to this food as you will need it all your life to keep the weight you want!
    So the earlier, the better.
You can use it in many ways!!
It allows you to make a pizza when you are on PL (or PV, I call it like that in English: Proteins+Vegetables) and its great!
You can make some blini-like cakes to eat with salmon…

I agree with you when you say that it is the 1st diet who helps you get back to good eating behaviours!

I love smoked salmon and it’s probably the only diet who allows you to eat that!

You can also easily go out with Dukan.

Yes let’s go on supporting each other.

We should try to share that.

I started (2nd time) yesterday, I lost 1.9 kg so far!
I have about 30 kg (exactly 34) to lose.
My aim is to do phase 2 until 16/09/09 so I have 1 year to do so!
I’m looking forward to hear from you.

    Hi everyone,

I’ve been doing the diet since 7th of August and i’m not very happy with the results. Thats like a month and a half and i lost 5 kilos. The process is very slow and have huge cravings minly for chocolate and potatos ;o) I think it may be my fault mainly because i do allow myself some forbidden staff like cereal bars in the morning(no choclate and the lowest possible caloeries) and i probably had alchohol about 3 times during that time. I’m struggling to make myself drink water, i hardly manage to drink 1,5 per day and I’m running out of ideas of what to eat that contains protein. I’m not really a meat person so i eat fish all the time and dairy products and i’m getting sick of it.

I will really appreciate it if you could tell me some vegeterian foods that are high in protein. I also wonder does the amount of weight you loose depend on how much you weight. My target is 15 kilos and i feel like giving up already.Does the diet still works if you alow yourself sertain foods that were not listed?Or do we have to folow everything strictly for it to give results?

    September 18, 2008

    Hello Mariya,

    You seem desperate…
I’ve seen some girls in your situation and although they lost weight, in the end, they gave up on that diet.
There are many good diets. There is one for evereyone of us.
If you are like you are now after 1.5 months, maybe this diet is not for you!
I do not want to discourage you but If you do not like meat, this diet is definitely not for you.
Why? Because Dr Dukan started this diet because when he was a simple doctor one of his patient who loved meat wanted to lose weight.
And so Dr Dukan told him to eat meat for a few days and when the patient came back in his cabinet, they both realized that he had lost a few kilos.
And that’s how Dukan started to search on proteins and diet.
What I like with this diet is that you can eat real food! Fish, meat and vegetables.
What alternance are you doing? Maybe you should do 1/1 or 3/3 rather than 5/5.
With this diet I never felt any frustration, so to me starting to feel that way is no good for the future…
    Just think about all that…
Water is not the only thing you can drink!
You have diet c…, ice T… light, tea, coffee and many other drinks!
If you need help let me know.

  55. samparis
    September 18, 2008

    Hello,

Sorry to be strict, but Dr Dukan never said you should alternate 7/7, meaning 7 PP days and 7 PL (or PV) days. That’s too much for your body!

You can alternate 1/1 or 5/5 and also another one, but I have to find my book to tell you what Dr Dukan says.

We have to be careful and reaaly follow what HE says.

    Hi samparis,

Thanks for the response! The problem with me is that i have already tried many drastic diets that worked for a short while but not in the long term. I think diets dont have effect on me anymore. I will not give up just yet because the diet is giving results although very slowly but i do think that with this diet i can keep what i lost for longer.Even if i dont reach my target its still something. Thanks for the advice!I will check the net for more info on protein foods ;o)

    Hello Mariya,

I’m happy that you want to go on, but do listen to your body!!
Can you tell more about your numbers? your starting weight, for exemple. If you weight 90 kilos, you will lose faster than if you lose 70.

    What is your alternance?
You know, there is no miracle or magic in this diet.
Dr Dukan has listed all the food you can have already.
I have listed it on my site as well so go and check (click on samparis and you will have the address I think).

Now, you have to start COOKING in order to feel less frustrated and add a special touch to your proteins.

This morning, my mom made some delicious oat bran cookies for me!! While eating them, I thought that I was not on a diet!!

You have everything to succeed so just be creative!!

Do you go to the restaurant?
I went twice already!! If you go with someone and you are on a PP day just give the side to the people who are with you.

I’d be happy if you tell us more about you and answer some questions!!

I hope I don’t seem to bully, but I was one of the “head” of a forum one year ago.

Hi,To start with i weighted 68 kilos when i sarted now i am 63.My target is 55. Im not very tall too so i think this is realistic target. I know from experience that my metabolism is very slow but i do try to exercise at least 3 times a week. Running and some additional exercises. What wories me with this diet is that it is very slow i loose about 1 kg per week. I used to do 5/5 but i now decided that is better for me and easier to do 7/2 because i really feel the need for vegetables. See i’m listening to my body :o) I probably need to take a cooking book and really start cooking to make my food more interesting i agree with that. Really aprreciate the help and your responses they seem to help and i feel more positive. I dont want to quit…I was wondering the book does not really say expliciltly anything about many foods and drinks. Like fruit juce for example if its no added sugar is it that harmful. And can we eat cereal? If somone can answer these questions for me that be great. Thanks ;o)

Hi! I have a question and I hope somebody can help me!
Today I could not fight the desire of eating 2 pralines and 1 fruit cupcake, because these are the things I just can’t live without 🙁 I started the diet 10 days ago and went from 56kg to 53kg. My target is 50kg, so just 3kg more to lose! My question is, should I do the stabilization phase now or just ignore it and go on with PL/PP until I reach 50kg?
    Thank you for help!

    September 20, 2008

    Hello Mariya,

You have the French book? Really? So you speak French fluently?

Well, it’s totally normal that with your size and weight, you do not lose so much!!
1 kg a week is already a lot! You cannot imagine!! Some people would love to lose even 500 gr a week!
And think, the slower, the better.
You may lose more with other diets but you will put back even faster!
This diet allows you to know yourself and develop the way you behave towards food.
Yes!! do take some recipe books and try to adapt them to the diet.

Unfortunately, you are not allowed any fruits because they are sweet! Natural sugar, but still sugar.
And it’s the same for cereal.

You know, I know this diet! I’ve met many people doing this diet. I’ve read many things on the subject.

You mean 2/7 right? 2 days of PP and 7 days of PV? I’ve never heard of such an alternance.
You will tell us how it works!

You still have 8 kg to go. So be courageaous and try to think about this diet as a way to eat not a diet.
That’s the way I take it. Some people do not eat pork or seafood. I do not eat sugar or fat.

You will not lose the 8 kg as fast as the 5 you already lost. It’s like that in most diets.
So take it easy and think that slow is not bad.
At least your body is not traumatized.

Some of the girls of my forum were in the same size and weight category and they manage to rich their target but not in a few weeks! In a few months!
Losing weight is a very long process when you want to lose over 10 kg.

I’m sure you know your body and the diet world, but I know this diet very well. I lost over 20 kg the 1st time and I blew it all because I did not follow what Dr Dukan said till the end.
And here I am again! So I’ve learned my lesson!
What I’m telling, I applied to myself as well!

    So good luck!
I hope we can go on talking about our experiences!

    Alcohol and bran :
I ate a spoonful of oatbran in my yoghurt yesterday and, as I feared, the scales rose slightly. I have a slight intolerance of grains and it seems that it includes oatbran so I will have to do without it during the PP phases.
In re. alcohol, the spirits (vodka, gin, whisky, brandy) are all zero carbohydrate and allowed in small quantities on other low-carb diets. Would a vodka on the rocks after eating be too bad and/or should I wait for the PL phases to drink?
Fabulous site by the way and really helpful.

    Hi all,
I’ve just read the comments. Community helps!!
I’m totally connected to my diet. After almost 2 months, I’ve already eliminated almost 12 kilos. Comparing to previous experiences, it’s great.
My brother is also doing the diet at the exact time I am, and he’s already elminated 14 kilos.
I sometimes dream with some foods I’m not eating, but I will wait to the time I can eat them. I’m really committed to the died.
Mariya, 5 kilos in one month, for women is not bad. Men are able to lose weight quicker, but we have different metabolism.
What I’m doing to help with the water is adding the little sachets of tea (green tea, raspberry tea, etc) and drinking. I’m drinking much more.
Since I started, I’m taking Vitamin C, a complex of Vitamins named Think Smart, from Whole Foods. I think it helps in not having hair loss or fatigue. It’s working for me.
I’m very happy with the results, and it’s great to hear the comments from family, friends and co-workers.
I look forward to read the comments of the community again soon 🙂

    Hello everyone,
I’ve been on the diet for 5 weeks now, and I lost 9 kg!!!
I feel great, I wear 2 sizes less. I still have 4-5 kg to loose but with this diet I really believe it will actually happen :-))))

I am now even used to eggs and smoked fish (as I dont like meat and frutti di mare) after 5 weeks.
I’m very very happy with the results!!!

Hi, i started the diet on 19 july, i have lost 11kg till 19 sept, so in 2 months, but from alsmost a month i am fighting with 1 kg, and i still have 5 more to lose. It really works fast in the begining, but after some time the scale srats to freeze.

I still have 5 kg to go, so i decide to do my best, because honestly the last month i have used asure free bonbons, just to be able to keep on going and i am 3-4 times a week srinking wine, which actually is skipping the rules.

Also i remmember very day that the weight i want to reach was my weight 11-12 years ago, Dr. Ducan says your body remmembers your kgs and it is very difficult to convonce it to accept new weight, as every kg you lose in the last fase of losing is a real fight with your body, which keeps also fighting to keep its resorses.

    Hi All 🙂

I’ve been on the diet for 13 days now and i’ve lost only 3 kg.. It feels that you guys are getting the results much quicker and i’m wondering what i must be doing wrong..

I drank wine 2 times, 1 glass yeah with nothing after it; then i ate these oat pancakes for breakfats during the combined period, maybe that’s the thing? I’m doing my best to drink about 2 littlres of water per day but the thing is my blood pressure really doesnt tolerate this- im dizzy all the time, so i got back to the book, and the Dr says it might happen so i reduced the intake to 1 littre..

also, i drink these fruit yoghurts, its written that they allowed but not more than 2 per day- im observing that- the ones i get are fat free and have VERY little carbs, which is the reason the Dr says they are allowed only 2 per day..

someone mentioned hair loss- that’s been actually alarming in my case- too much, i can actually feel the difference of how much hair i’ve lost by touching it and when i put it in a bun :((((

that’s it from me, if you guys have any suggestions pls go ahead, i’ll be happy to hear your opinions,

    Eve

    October 26, 2008

    Hi Eve,
Women lose weight much slower than men. Also many people had a slow start when using Pierre Dukan’s diet. Loosing weight is very is different for each an every one of us. Here I should mention that thinner people are losing weight more slowly than heavier people. How much do you weight?
Concerning water; drinking more water than usual can increase blood pressure so, for me, you should measure it and if it is too high just reduce the amount of water that you are drinking daily.
About the hair – starting taking vitamins, especially complex ones for strengthening one’s hair. Normally, the diet is reducing the amount of vitamins intake.

    Hi all,
I’d like to share my experience with the Protal Plan too. It’s been 6 weeks since I’m on this diet and I’ve lost 7.5 kg (I’ve got electronic scales ;-). Reading the comments in this forum I understand that I’m not doing that great and am getting a little concerned now. I’ve got another 17 kg to get rid of! I have gradually put on the excess weight in the last 2-3 years especially the last one so I was hoping that will move faster in the right direction. I’m quite strict allowing myself only minor sins (i.e. a PL meal in the PP period). Otherwise feeling quite happy, much more energetic and healthy. My problem is that I don’t exercise anymore. I started cycling and managed to have some physical activity every day. I’d go to the rowing canal (it’s a sports facility in my home city) and do 20k cycling or I’d go walking for an hour or so. The weather here got quite cold though and my working hours would not permit long walks and so on. On the other hand I don’t like going to the gym so I’m really stuck. Can someone advise please? What do you do to exercise?

  77. nataliehh13
    November 25, 2008

    Hello Maria,
Despite the fact that Dukan’s diet is quite balanced it hides the usual potential for dangerous influences for your body. If you hate the gym and if it is cold outside to jog, you could try an electronic bike at home. I am certain that you are completely aware that you will not be able to lose weight and keep it up without a regular exercise and food limitation.
Myself, I normally use a number of tricks whenever I am not able to exercise – from drinking a lot of water before a meal to trying to eat extremely slowly. 10x and I hope I was able to help

My aim is 5-6 kg,which I am fighting with for years.I’ve read all comments. For Diet to work you have to be very strict, breakfast bars and drinks, comoooon, you’ve got to be curring!Nobody still answer, can we have soya product,I love soya yoghurt!I don’t like meat, but if its work I am eating it,I am very creative with cooking,so everything I eat is tasty(almoust).I am going to put my daughter on this diet,a bit worry, but I’ll keep eye on her,she is 19,and need to loose 10-15 kgs.Yes,I am Bulgarian and have the book on bulgarian, but this book is not yet in UK,I’ve asked everyway!
I am on 1/1 now,and drinking a lot water and tea(in the loo every 10 min :))I made myself for dinner chiken liver with a little bit of flour, and plenty of onions, and water,in the oven,,and as a salad-tomatos and cucumber with cottage cheese, lovely, tasted really nice after 2 days of only meat!
    Good luck to everybody!

    Hello,
My name is Milena and I am on that diet 4th week and I lost 7kg. I couldn’t say, that I were one day hungry. I saw the name in English, but I coudn’t find in amazon.com or another websites to buy. But there is enough information in Internet about these 4 Phase. I don’t know for the future and espessially in the 3 and 4 Phase ( I think it will be hardest moment from all 4 to keep the results), but now everything is working . I saw that to much salat in PL made the loosing a little bit slowly, but I will reduce vegetable( I took 3-4 times per day, I think 2 times will be enough).
If somebody needs information in English, I can send you my doc file to read it.
    Good luck!

hi everyone, I’ve just learnt by chance about this diet and immediately tried to educate myself on the subject, so, that’s how I ran into this forum. It sounds like the diet can do miracles; I am considering trying it soon but before I do that I need a qualified answer (not just an opinion) of one important question, namely: has it occurred to any of you (and to Dr Dukan) that the way animals are bred nowadays is not natural at all? that many feed additives and hormones are still in use in animal production? It is illegal in the US and some European countries but many poorer countries still produce whatsoever brings the highest profits regardless of any health concerns. I live in one such country; that’s why I’m a bit worried…. Don’t u think those hormones would move to our bodies in much greater amounts during this diet?

Congrats on everyone who has had success :)) I wanted to share my experience: It is my 15th day on the diet (no deviations ) and my weight loss is only 2.5kg so far, which seems little in comparative terms. I want to lose a total of 6 from the diet. I am getting a little discouraged! Any advice?
About the oat bran: A friend told me about the new book by Dukan, which is about the great health benefits of bran. He allows you to eat it at all stages of the Plan. 3 spoons not mentioned there! I hope this is true. I am personally only having about 5 spoons for breakfast with yogurt as bran is amazing for digestion!
    Good luck guysss:)))

    Hi everyone,
I am about to start the diet and is great I found this web-site.3 years ago I was on a similar diet-proteins and veg. Then I lost 15 kg for about 10 weeks. The problem was to keep the weight I have reached.I managed for 3-4 mounths but after this I gave up.So I am willing to try again reducing fats and carbohydrates and lose 20 kg.Will try to be regular here and use your suport.
    Good luck everyone!

Hello, everyone,i’m Bulgarian and i’ve got Dukan’s books in Bulgarian, but i’ve not started the diet yet.I would like to ask all of you who have already started this diet for more information about the products you use here in UK.Good luck!!!

    Hi,
Just started the diet yesterday, and have lots of questions to the veterans in this forum.
I’ve got the portuguese version of the book, but I live in the Uk. Can someone tell me about the oil he mentions? What’s its name in English? Also, I can’t find yoghurts fat free + sugar free with any flavour and don’t like plain yoghurts, any suggestion? Same with cheese, I really hate Cottage Cheese or any soft cheese, any other cheese I can eat?? I’m using the 1 cal spray oil to cook, is that ok??
He allows mustard, does he mean mustard of any kind?
he also says there’s no restriction on quantity but I can see some people advise not to eat more than 4 times a day. I’ve been feeling quite hungry and snacking about 5/6 times and then 2 main meals.
He says to use condiments. Appart from salt, pepper, vinegar, herbs and lemon can I use anything else? I want to lose about 12 kgs and am quite determined in following the rules even though I’m already dying for a glass of wine… That’s ok if the diet works so please help.

    Hi Aemarz,

I can’t answer all of your questons but I can give you some advice on the yoghurts and cheese as I live in the UK as well. Look out for the Quark virtually fat free soft cheese and also they have some fat free fromaige frais in Waitrose or tesco. M&S sell a fat free, sugar free yoghurts but I have only been able to find the vanilla taste so far. Also you should try the Weight watchers yoghurts they are also fat free sugar free and have low calories.
I have no idea about the oil, I am trying to find out myself. There is also some fat free, sugar free jello which is quite good for desert. Do let me know if you find anything else that is tasty and suits the diet. Good luck to you.
    :))

    Hi Hristina,
Please look above for what I have written to Aemarz. It gives some ideas about the products. Also try the Total 0% greek plain yoghurt, it tastes great regardless of the fact that it is fat free. Let me know if you find any nice suitable products. To be honest I am finding it quite hard to find suitable things that taste all right.
    Regards

    Dear all,
    Long time I don’t write.
I’m REALLY very happy with this diet.
I started on August 5th, and I’ll complete 6 months this week.
So far, my results are: 23 kilos eliminated (about 52 pounds).
Lessons learned: the results came because I’ve followed 100%. No cheating any time (Holidays were a challenge, I can ensure you all!).
I’m thinking about continuing 1 or 2 kilos more, and I’m now reading the book again, about the transition (maintenance) period.
I confess, I’m afraid to move to the maintenance. I also confess that I’ve never included the oatbran. I think that before really starting the transition, I’ll start including the oatbran.
If someone here is the maintenance, I would love to hear about hints/best practices.
I know it will take me almost a year in the maintenance period, but I’m really committed to myself.
I encourage any person in this forum to keep doing the diet, because it really works!

    Hi Marcia
Congrats on your success! Have you had any health problems while you were doing the diet? I am really afraid as I’ve heard that it can be bad for the body when continued for long and this is why I am asking..
    Thanks

    February 7, 2009

    Hi Caridee,
FOR THE OIL – the best thing I found at Sainsbury’s is a 1 cal spray/oil which tastes similar to olive oil and you need just about 4/5 sprays (4/5 calories) to cook meat or vegetables.
    cheers.
Thanks for tips, I’ll look for the yoghurt at M&S. weight watchers yogurts are low calories but do have some sugar in it, so I’m not sure if I can have it. Unfortunately I really hate any kind of soft cheese/fromage frais/ricotta/plain yoghurt which makes it more difficult for me… I just like hard cheeses – edam, mozzarella, cheddar etc. but don’t know if I can have the version light as it still has 1/2 of the fat

    Hi all,

I’m almost there 🙂 Last time I wrote I still had 2 kilos to go. I’ve already elminated 24.4, and my goal was 25.
I’m about to start the Stabilization, but I need to confess that I’m scared to death. I think I’ve got used to the PP-PV mode, I’m anxious to have the 2 weekly free meals, but I’m afraid of gaining weight.
Anybody here in the Stabilization? How is it going?
In the book, Dr. Dukan says that we don’t have to be afraid and, following the rules, everything will be all right.’
The most important for me: I’m committed. This is the last diet in my life, and I want to keep the results FOREVER.
Ah! I started with the oat bran, and it’s helping a lot. I’m using the regular Oatker oat. But I would like to hear from other suggestions that someone could have.
Answering to Caridee’s question: I haven’t had any health problems during the 7 months I’ve made the PP-PV.
I’ve added, by myself, 1 capsule of Vitamin C and 1 capsule of Centrum, because my life is really busy. I know it’s not mandatory, but I did, and it worked for me (actually, I was doing it before the diet, I just kept the habit).
Other positive comment (from my husband): this is the first diet you are always in good mood! (great compliment). And it’s true: as you are never hungry, if you eat the proteins correctly, you’ll be always in a good mood.
I really with all people here have a great success!!

    Hi Marcia,
Congratulation on your diet success. However, now you are about to face the most troubling and difficult, at least for me, part of Pierre Dukan’s diet.
The stabilization phase was the most difficult for me. I have lost 18kg for 8 months and I am still in the stabilization phase.
The greatest difficulty from me was because of the fear I felt about getting back the lost weight. However, up until this moment I am following the diet very strictly and everything is look good. Another aspect that helped me, is that fact that I successfully discovered most of the foods that do no agree with me. I did that by trial and error. It was a long process. Furthermore, I managed to enforce the “plate rule” for myself; roughly meaning that I just eat what I place in one plate, no more even if I am hungry.
I hope this will help you in your efforts. I wish you the best of luck.
Even more, please, feel free to ask me anything; I am ready to help you in any way possible.

    March 5, 2009

    Hi Dagdamor,
Thanks for your kind and encouraging words. Glad to know you are in the Stabilization and things are working.
About the oat, have you ever used it, even in the initial phases?
I would like to know if it’s OK to use Oatker or similar oat, or if it’s better to use another one.
    Thanks a lot
    Marcia

I’ve started my Stabilization phase this April 5th, and so far, so good.
It’s good to continue with the same commitment I’ve been doing with the previous steps (25 kilos eliminated in 8 months).
It’s a pleasure to have the “free” meals 2Xweek and eating bread and fruit everyday.
I wish all the people in this community a great Luck with this diet. It really works.

Hi. I want to try this diet, but I am having trouble figuring out what to eat. For example, if I eat fish..I can not eat potatoes or sauces or rice. So what can I eat with it? And the same problem with meat. I don´t want to eat a dry chicken breast alone. Are there any sites with recipes?
    Greetings..

Hi, i`m on this diet too. i`m very happy and i thing that`s the best diet ever, because i wanted to lose fat and not muscle mass, so that was a really gut decision.
And for all the people: the more weight you have to lose, the faster that will be at the beginning, the less – the slower. You have to be patient. Don`t worry, every person is different.
Besides, Dukan says that you have to measure yourself, because sometimes you don`t lose weight, but centimeters.
And i`m sorry for my spelling error.

    Hello Fibi,
I am not sure what ingredients does Nestle fitness contain. Eating cornflakes is fine, however, you should mind the carbs that you consume. After all, Pierre Dukan’s protal plan is just a very well developed protein diet.

    Hi all,
I’ve completed 2 months of the Stabilization phase. I was very afraid that I would get weight during this phase, but what really happened is that I’ve lost an additional kilo.
I’m following the phase exactly as it’s written in the book (as I did with the previous phases), and it’s a pleasure to restart introducing carbs and having 2 free meals per week.
I’ve been talking about this diet for many people, always making clear that, if correctly followed (no cheating), it works.
I wish good luck and commitment for everyone trying.
    All the best

I am living in France and bought the book, but do not know French that well.

I started 2 days ago and am total constipated even though I am drinking 1.5 litres of water. I have bought the oil that’s mentioned in the book called “Paraffine Liquid” from the pharmacie. Can I take this in stage 1 for the constipation ? My physio who recommened the diet said she mixes the oil with Perrier water and raspberry vingar as a dressing, but did not know if this is in the attack phase, and there is no reference to this in the threads above.
Anyone help ? Alternatively will the oatbran help the constipation ? I would like to do 5 days attack, and there are different views on when oatbran can be introduced to the diet…

    June 18, 2009

The best diet ever! Works great. And I feel great. I lost nearly 20 kilo in 4.5 months, my husband started 5 weeks ago and lost 12 kilo… We’re starting 3rd phase soon 🙂
Everyone’s asking me about the English version of the book. Do you know if it’s available anywhere? I’ve looked online and couldn’t find it.
For the constipation, oatbran should help. Dukan allows it in phase one. He doesn’t mention it when listing allowed foods, but it appears in the “typical day” examples for the attack phase.

Since some people who don’t like meat have asked for help, I would suggest other approaches to weight loss. Try the Christian Orthodox fast on healthy foods – no animal food of any sort, even dairy, no oil of any sort. When that stops working try combining foods (on healthy foods). Eat fruit separately, meat and veggies separately, starches+oils+veggies separately. You can alternate with the Dukan diet. Whenever there is a plateau, try a different approach. The body gets used, so surprise it. Other days you could have carbohydrates from low-sugar fruits only, absolutely no starches. It is usually better to have no carbohidrates for dinner, since in the evening your metabolism slows down. Other times try a no-sugar diet. You could have brown rice or wholegrain bread (I recommend rye) but absolutely no fruits, sugars.
Using this method I’ve lost 18kgs in 8 months going to work, eating plenty, very moderate exercise. I also use only virgin oils, eat few foods at a single meal to help digestion, have Omega-3s, fiber. Stress on raw foods such as salads and fruits…
    Good luck

    Hi all,

I’ve been revising the posts, and I want to make some comments.

I’m now almost 3 months in the Stabilization phase. So far, so great. I’ve lost an addiitonal kilo, and I’m very happy with the inclusion of new food in my daily life.
Interesting comments about the bad mood, because, in my case, my mood improved a lot. I’ve always felt great. My conclusion is that it depends from person to person.
In previous diets, I really had bad mood, but not in this one.
My mood is even better now in the Stabilization phase.
This morning I went to my yearly check-up (first after the diet) and ALL blood tests are absolutely great. Absolutely 100% in order. I also did a fitness assessment, because I want to start exercising more seriously. The doctor told me that I’ll probably will increase the weight (muscular mass), but I won’t feel differences in my clothes.
So, I’m getting ready to start excercising.
I really think this diet is great, and I encourage all people around me to do it.
    All the best for all
    Marcia

    August 8, 2009

Hi, I am French so I can access all the Dr Dukan’s books. If you want them they are for sale on Amazon.fr. I have lost 22 pounds in 2 months without ever being hungry. I eat when I feel the need, as much as I need. Remember calories do not count, but only eat what is allowed. The weight loss is followed by stages of short stagnation, like a staircase. Do not change anything, just carry on, the weight loss always come. For those who find it boring, there are lots of recipes in his books. For ex..Every day, you can combine the 2 brans, low fat fromage frais and egg + raising agent to make a bread to have with any food, or make a huge pancake. I suggest you eat a good portion of vegetables on alternate days, as this will help keep you “regular”.. You can eat ANY fish or sea food, even tinned if you use “in brine”. Make crustless quiches, sweet flans with sweetex, chocolate creams with “fat free cocoa”… If any of you have questions, I will willingly help. Remember the mosy important OF ALL, is the long settling period which follows the end of the diet, 5 days per pound lost. DO IT, or all the weight will come back and more! I have a very slow metabolism, this is the only diet which has worked for me, so it will work for you.
It is alsoimportant to do some excercise. Simply walking every day will be a great help, and DO drink 3 pints of water a day to flush the liver. I also recommend to take vitamins and extra potassium. My only side effect has been a rise in urea, which could lead to gout, but I take a pill evry day and all is well. On the plus side, this diet makes you feel energetic and happy..it has a euphorising side effect! I am now 1/2 way to my target. I wish you all courage and stickability. Yours Josy

    September 28, 2009

    Hi guys,

I’ve been on this diet for a month now and I have lost 5 kilos! I started at 56 and I’m now 51 kilos. I’m doing 7/7. I’m happy with the results because I didn’t have a lot to lose and it’s usually a slower process in cases like mine. I still have a kilo to go though.
I have not cheated with food, not once. BUT I only stayed alcohol-free for the first 10 days and then decided I am going to allow myself dry white wine. White wine is supposed to help fat emulsification that’s why I chose it. For me it has been alright even though sometimes I would have quite a lot (too many parties lately:)) I’m not saying you should have it, only that for me it was ok. If you do have some stick to drier wines like Pinot Grigio that have less sugars.

    Good luck to all!

    .

    September 28, 2009

    Pam,
generally cheeses that contain less than 10% fat are ok. Just check the info on the Babybell light pack. I eat the lowest fat Laughing cow triangles – they only have 3% (they do low fat in a blue box and an even lower fat in a purple box), and also Tesco’s low fat feta cheese (actually just a bit over 10% but very good and I don’t eat much of it).

  137. Pras
    September 28, 2009

Also, it might sound silly but keeping a “diet diary” has really helped me so far. In my case that’s a doc file that I keep on my desktop, I write in it the date, my weigh and everything I eat (yes, everything!). I weigh myself daily. The diary helps a lot in a funny way – when you cheat, you’re really cheating yourself, therefore trying not to admit it to yourself. It sucks if you have to put it in writing, so you just don’t cheat – you’d hate to admit it and see it in your diary. Hope this makes sense… sort of does for me 🙂

  138. Pras
    September 28, 2009

    Giusyl,

You can eat tomatoes. The full list of veggies you can eat:
    Tomatoes
    Cucumbers
    Radishes
    Spinach
    Asparagus
    Leaks
    Green beans
    Cabbage
    Mushrooms
    Celery
    Leafy salads of all kinds
    Eggplants
    Zucchini
    Peppers

You can even have carrots and beetroot but not with every meal.

    Enjoy (moderately) 😉

My target is 6 kg which I have been fighting with for few years….I must say, the diet is not coming easy for me.I feel tired, hungry and thirsty all the time. So, I drink a lot of water-about 2l of Evian per day. I hope I will feel better when I get used to eating proteins all the time.
I would like to share something- I allow myself alcohol.First day I had wine, the second day-whiskey.Nevertheless, one kilo is gone:-)
Another thing-regarding the constipation problem. I don’t have it all. This is because every night before going to the bed I have a tablet of senna. It is a herb and it does not have any side effects. The tablet can be replaced by a cup of tea.
I have a question-does anybody know if during PL a soup is allowed? Dr Dukan does not say anything about eating soup.
I wish all of you success in the diet!…It works!!!

    Hi there,
Need some help trying to do diet from internet info since no english version. I just completed phase 1 and lost 6 lbs. Now going into phase 2 not clear on how this phase works. PP PL PP PL PP PL PP then what back to phase 1 or continue with the PP PL… so far this has been pretty easy and the results great. Looking forward to the rest!!!

  143. Pras
    October 21, 2009

Tammy, you do PP PL PP PL until you reach your goal. Then you have stabilization phase. This consists in one day a week PP, then PL plus one slice of whole wheat bread a day, plus a fruit a day, plus two servings of potatoes or rice or pasta or beans per week. Plus 2 gala meals a week (eat what you want, no extra servings). You have to do this 10 days for each lost kilo. I have now reached my goal – I’m 50 kgs but I’m afraid to go to phase 3 as I think I’m going to gain some of the weight back… Please see the beginning of the blog – it’s all clearly explained there with charts and all… Good luck.

Pelase, I’m doing the protein diet for 4 days and I haven’t loose weight. I drink tequila and sometimes whiskey or vodka.
    May that be the reason?
Could you please let me know what kind of alcohol dirnks OI can take and how many?
    Thank you very much

hello everyone so far i lost 9kg in less then 2 months. it s so easy seems unreal. keep it up out there. it works!!!!!!!!

  146. Pras
    October 30, 2009

Renee, you are not supposed to drink alcohol at all if you go by the book. I think if you are to brake this rule, the most “innocent” kind would be whit wine. I stayed alcohol free for the fist two weeks, then started drinking white wine only and much later when I had lost almost all the weight I wanted to lose I started drinking spirits (vodka and tequila) sometimes. Hope this helps.

    Hi everyone,

I have just started this diet on recomendation of my friend who achieved fantastic weight loss of 18 kg in just few months.
I started on Monday, 2 November and today is my third day. I aim to loose 10kg and I feel very positive and enthusiastic. I have tried so many different diets and some of them worked but after certain amount of time I always gained my start weight and even more…
I am very positive about everything that I read on this blog about this diet and I have some questions to ask:
    1. Can I eat canned tuna and other fish without oil, of course?
    2. Can I eat burgers and meatballs with some onion in them in the first Attack fase?
    3. Can I eat Young’s Seafood Sticks (in the ingredients it sas they have Wheat Starch, but it does not says how much otherwise they are low in fat(0.2g per stick), low sugar(0.5), low salt (0.3) ?

I will be very grateful if you could help me with the answers.

    November 4, 2009

    Hey Sonia,

    1. canned fish (no oil) is absolutely fine
    2. be careful with burgers and meatballs – they usually contain more than 10% fat! if you can get something that’s 10 to 12% fat you’re ok, I don’t think a bit of onions will do such damage…
    3. seafood sticks are actually quite high on carbs (17.5%) and not so rich in proteins (7.8%) so I would avoid them although some people have them

    Hi all,

I’m an English guy living in France. I’ve been on the Dukan Diet since July and have lost 26 Kg so far. It honestly hasn’t been that difficult as I enjoy cooking and coming up with innovative ways to enjoy the protein whilst keeping to the diet.

My wife lost 10 Kg and is on her Consolidation phase. I still have about 20Kg to loose and will be on the Weight loss phase until March/April 2010.

I’m working with Dr Dukan and his team on some projects so please feel free to ask any questions. My blog is linked to my name above. Follow Dr Dukan’ news in English on Twitter too: http://twitter.com/DukanDiet – This has just been set up so there is nothing there yet, but it will be used.

Good luck to everyone on the diet – hang in there!

Hin I am French and many of my friends have been following this diet and have successfully lost the expected weight. It is a very famous diet in France, and to be honest I have not seen onesingle negative comment about it on the hundred of blogs and forums that are dedicated to it. I did not go through all the comments but one think is sure, nothing is allowed except the food written in the book. No exception. Alcohol is completely prohibited. Try to find some allowed compensation if you feel the need to have some chocolate or some tequilla, go for a run, or do like me, drink two big glasses of diet coke.don t let these things ruin your efforts. All the food that is recommended in the book can be eaten without restriction. Skim milk is allowed (max 250 ml parday). and the oat and wheat is everyday in each phase, even if the book is not very clear on this topic. Ii is better explained on the officia website. I t is a very safe diet since the ast phase prepares thebody to get bad to a normal diet again. well, good luck for everyone. And don t panick if a few days you don t lose any weight, there are phases of stagnation (water retention maybe) but it will start again, so be patient and don t weight yourself everyday, I d says twice or once a week (personal recommendation)..

hello everybody, I am so happy- I reached my target within 40 days and now I look great. I receive so many compliments!I want to share something from my personal experience: although, I assume that KINSKIS is right and only the foods from the book may be taken, I cheated a lot!….I had alcohol almost every day (only red wine or whiskey).I had to socialise because of my job and I could not skip the drinks. Also, very often I had terrible cravings for chocolate or bread. Of course, I drank diet coke. But sometimes I allowed myself to have a bite of a chocolate (just a bite, to have the taste) or a bite of bread. And it did not affect me at all!I had my days of stagnation but after that the weight had dropped suddenly.I excersise for 20 min 3 times a week (mainly cardio) and I drink at least 1.5 l of EVIAN per day. I take oats every yday. And here it is- the result.
I am sure that the diet can be adjusted to each individual and one will feel what one can do and what one should avoid.
    Good luck to everybody!

    Hi! 🙂
I’ve finished my 4 phase a few months ago. And I’m happy with the result- my kgs are just as I wanted them to be.
But I wonder about one thing… What would happen if I just cut the protein day off someday?
The book says that I’ll gain all my kilos back-ok, but would I gain more than I’ve lost? I would be very thankful if someone could advise me on that.

    Dear friends,
Today, I complete my 250th day of the 3rd phase, once I lost 25 kilos.
I’m really happy with reaching my goals. I lost the weight I wanted, I did my 3rd phase very easily and here I am, starting the “real life” moment.
Since I started the Dukan Diet, on Aug-2008, I’ve been always saying that this is the last diet of my life. From now on, I just want to maintain my weight, using the techniques Dr. Dukan teaches us in his book.
I tell all people that I ask me about the diet that it’s not difficult, but it’s very personal. The key word/feeling to the success: commitment. I am committed: to my plans, to my health, to my life.
Before Dr. Dukan’s diet, I tried MANY other times, and MANY other diets (with and without medicines, special menus, etc).
For me, it’s been working. And I feel I’ve changed the way I eat, things I want to eat and my behavior towards food.
What I can say to all people on the same journey or considering to start it: don’t give up!
What a great day for me: Dec-15-2009 !!
All the best for all! Happy Holidays! Happy Life!

    Hello everybody 🙂

I’m on my 4th Attack day, everything goes pretty smooth, no side effects for me except a weird taste in my mouth for the second day.

I have a couple of questions for the more advanced dieters here. Yesterday I had a slip-up, I ate some fruit quark that had no actual fruit but powder, or so the label said. I have also noticed that it had about 5 grams of carbohydrates… And later on I checked my tofu label only to find out that it has carbohydrates also, like 2 grams 🙁

My question is if ingesting any smallish amount of carbohydrates will take the organism out of the ketosis phase. And if so, should I start over?

    Thanks 🙂

Hey all, newbie here. This is the end of Day 2 in the attack and I’m not sure that there’s any difference yet, which is OK because I realized it’s only the very beginning. I can’t find the book in english so I’m working off of this site and all of the comments.
Just a few questions- 1, On this site it mentions that the Lakerol sugar free candies are OK and in unlimited quantities. Is that true? I’ve got quite the large sweet-tooth. 2, Couldn’t such extreme meat consumption lead to potentially negative effects on our health? I just don’t want to do something that might lead to a heart attack at 45… And 3, if fat-free yogurt is not an option (haven’t been able to find it in Sweden) is 0,1% fat OK? Maybe some of you experts can let me know, would be great for moral support : )

    Thanks! x

  157. pras
    January 12, 2010

    Nicki,
1.: Sugar free candies are ok in unlimited quantities for the diet but not for your health – take it easy on the sweeteners as they can cause cancer. 2.: Lots of meat is ok IF you drink lots of water to help washing away the toxins. The lean meats you are allowed to eat on Dukan won’t cause a heart attack :)) and 3.: 0,1% fat is virtually fat free, it’s perfectly fine, just check the label for the amounts of carbs – some of the fat free yoghurts are actually packed with carbs…
Hope this helps, best of luck!

  160. pras

Cesar, I would say yes, based on these:

    http://www.soya.be/nutritional-values-of-tofu.php
    http://vegetarian.about.com/od/healthnutrition/p/tofunutrition.htm

100g of tofu contains 8 to 10g protein, 4-6g fat and about 2-3g carbs.

Can you eat aubergine? and… can you use tins of natural tomato sauce??

Moni.. well i do i do have this book in Polish and i am on my 3rd day so far…in the book they say that the most effective is 5PL-5PP because it works the fastest.. but also u can do 1PL-1PP, also 2 days of PP and 5 days of PL, In the book he says that the 5\5 is the most effective because the other once are going to give u results much slower…

and one more question i forgot to ask :)are we allowed to eat whenever and how much we want?

  171. Ayleen
    March 28, 2010

Yes, you are allowed to eat as much and whenever you want. However, I think is not healthy eating just before going to bed. At least one hour and a half before (though 2 and 1/2 would be way better 🙂 )

I have just lost 4 out of the 5 kilos I was supposed to lose in exactly the said time: 4 weeks – 4 kilos. I’m gonna start phase 3 next week.

Personally, after the 3days attack phase, I did the second phase 3 days PP and 4 PL. Still, it worked like a charm!
Unfortunately, I found out about the bran thing quite late, therefore I had some constipation issues. Worked them out, though.

Hello all. I am using this site and thedukandiet.org to find out more about the specifics of the diet. I actually came across the English version of the book when I was online yesterday, but won’t be able to get it in time to start (tomorrow!!). I have posted the links below.

I have only 4 kilos to lose so (hopefully) I will be able to complete the first two phases and reach my goal within a month. My plan is:
    Phase I: 5 days
    Phase II: 5PP/5PL

Has anyone had experience with the paraffin oil for eating and cooking? The only time I have used this before is at the salon for manicures!! Also, the info about the oat seems conflicting so I will just leave it out until stabilization and just take some cascara sagrada pills that I have which should keep me regular.

I’m so glad I found this site. Reading about everyone’s experiences has been very informative and motivational. I’ll keep everyone posted on my progress as well.

Hi ! I start attack phase 5 March-2010 . I keep this phase 10 days – maybe too long ????????? After that I keep 7 pp and 7 pl …… I really was very carefull with what I am eating – strictly only food from the Dukans book – and – First time – a few days ago I start feel kind of light headed. After class of kickboxing I had problem to take a stairs down, and yesterday I have to stop my car on the busy street because of funny fealings. My sugar was 74 this time – and I’m thinking maybe I need too eat something with sugar…. ? I sow doctor and he didnt find anything – and I have still a little funny fealings. I dont want to quit thi diet but I’m little afraid . I lost 10 pounds until today/April 1 2010/ . Maybe I supposed to do 5pp and 5 pl ? Maybe someone can advise something ????????? Help please !!!!!!!

    April 2, 2010

Hi Rosa – 10 days is quite enough for attack phase. Now you need to decrease PPs and PLs length. If you get funny feelings that means you are close to a hypoglycemia, and that is dangerous. You can try 4 PP and 4 PL…

Glad I found this site, but it seems like a lot of questions are being asked with no responses, at any rate , I will try:
    1) It seems unclear still (and I read this whole post) weather or not
OAT BRAN is allowed in Attack (PP)or not. I read of the Egg Pancakes with the Yogurt, Oat Bran and Wheat Bran recipes but what stages is this for ? Can anyone PLEASE clarify this?
    2) Can I put Oat Bran in my Yogurt for regularity in Attack (PP) I also read above of “senna” what is this?
    3) If there are any other support forums out there, please post.
Thank you —starting this on Sunday =]

……Yes, Beef Liver is allowed on Attack

  188. Ros
    April 25, 2010

I would imagine that liver and heart are allowed, as they are pretty much low calorie proteins.
What I wan’t to know is:
I have read that oat bran is supposed to bind with fat and oils in the lower digestive tract, which helps to remove them from the body… Doesn’t this mean that one would become deficient in fat soluble vitamins, such as A, D, and E and the essential fatty acids found in oils with omegas 3, 6, and 9? Is there a nutritionist out there that can answer this, as I know how vital these vitamins and omegas are for good health! I am 61 and I especially need to keep the omega oils in my system to fight arthritis!

It has to be fat free dairy so check the fat content. It says no alcohol but however. I’ve chosen to ignore that bit.

I wish I had found this website before I had invested in the books (in french) although not only will I loose weight but my french will considerably improve. I am reassured by all the success and must congratulate you all.

Today is day 1 of attack stage! I am loosing 8-10kg. I will keep you updated.

I have been reading some of the comments and can answer some of the questions from the book:

    1) you can have the pancakes in the attack stage – the 1.5 soup spoons of of oat bran is in fact an essential part of the diet.
    2) veal/beef liver and tongue are allowed, but avoid any greasy parts. there is no mention as far as I can tell of having heart.
    3) I can’t see why squid can’t be included in the diet, specially as tuna and salmon are inclusive as well as eel and haddock. Crabsticks are also available.

    Anyway good luck all!

resently I read another lol-carb diet and there they say that you can have nuts….but Dr Dukan say that you cannot. i substitute nuts with beef jerkey. basically it`s only meat.Btw I have ebook in Bulgarian if you need a copy let me know.

    Hello all,

Today is my first day of the diet and I’m feeling really positive 🙂
I calculated all my stages using British Dukan website (http://www.dukandiet.co.uk/) and I feel it is very helpful – giving dates and visual aid for the length of the diet seems super cool
I have few suggestions though to:
Firstly to people with constipation – cinnamon is really good for it – try to have just one teaspoon of it a day, and combined with loads of liquids it should do a trick. It is easy to incorporate it in your diet too – yogurt, your bran cake or adding to chicken-yogurt marinades…
Secondly to people who find it hard to drink enough liquids. I drink about four different types of teas a day and if you substitute your cup with a mug, you’ll add on a good bit toward your intake. Personally, I have a cup of puh-er, green tea, peppermint and sometimes black.
Thirdly to people who need recipe inspirations AND better liquid intake – during PV stages make loads of soups I used to make loads of them with potatoes, but I noticed that courgette is brilliant for the structure and I do prefer the ones with big chunks of veg.
You can change the herbs in soups or make them up with tomatoes or without, add chicken or not, and there – you have so many different options and a very easy way to have more liquids (plain French onion soup is so filling). As I have two kids and a fiancé who simply NEED potatoes in their broth I put whole potatoes in the soup and scoop them out for them leaving my soup guilt free

Wish me luck and all the best to the rest of you I hope my blabbing here was useful at least to one good soul 😀

I’ve been on this diet for almost two weeks. Attack Phase lasted 5 days but on the fourth day I felt very bad, like hypoglycemia or sth, so I ate 2 teaspoons of sugar and this saved my life 😉 Then on 6th day I switched to the Weight Loss Phase and now is the 6th day of this phase. I weighted 92kg when I started the diet 12 days ago. Now I weight 86kg. I lost 4kg during attack, and 2kg on the second phase so far. I feel much better on the second phase than the attack 🙂 Highly recommended!

Hello everyone! I have got the English version of the book now, after reading of this diet in the newspaper. It all made sense, and I love the way it is made clear that the restrictions are not forever, and Dr Dukan explains if we don’t follow his plan to the letter, it will not be as effective. I have ‘done’ many diets in my life, and the fact that I am trying yet another tells it’s own tale, but having rushed through the book, I really feel this is achievable, no faffing around counting calories, or points or weighing portions. I normally loose weight really slowly; but I have lost 3lb in 3 days ‘attack’ phase. I know this will slow down, but it is great motivation! Best of luck to you all here, and thanks for all the tips and insights. :0)

I have finished the attack phase and started the 2nd phase and my question is: can you have green beans. I do not see them on the list, but I was wondering. I lost 7lbs in the 7 day attack. Terrible bout with constipation so I purchased some herbal tea that is for that problem and it has helped.

    Hi everyone
I started this diet 9 days ago and am plannin on losing about 50 pounds so have been on the attack phase for the whole 9 days. I lost 14 pounds in the first 5 days – but have lost nothing since! This is starting to depress me as I’m sooooo missing veg – should I stick with it or move on to the next phase?
Thanks in advance for your replies

Please remember that you’re not meant to do phase 1 for more than 10 days as it will be unhealthy for you. Why don’t you go onto phase 2 and make sure you’re exercising more and drinking lots of water.
    Good luck!

    Guys,
I found that all the constipation problems disappeared after introducing out bran into my diet (plus moving onto PL or PV stage did a good job). According to a book you can do 1PP/1PV rhythm which works perfect for my without slowing anything down:)

I did Attack for 4 days and have been doing PL/PP for 10 days. I am in it for as a long as it takes to lose these next 8 LBS. But nothing is giving (including the irregularity this diet causes). Have been sticking to diet; no alcohol, Sugar Free candy (if needed) lean protiens-chicken, fish , turkey, egg beaters, yogurts, cottage cheese, Oat Bran. I even run almost every day and drink lots of water. 🙁 Any help from anyone?? Would love to get the book!

Hi, I am the same Jina number 65 in this list above , 2 years ago i lost for 3-4 month following the diet 14 kg and was happily keeping my weight for almost an year. I do not want to dissapoint a lo of you, but want to share the truth, after 1 year of happiness /looking good-very important and spending money for nice sexy femaile clothes/, i start gaining without eating anything extra, and step by step i gained back 3-4 kg with no reason. After my body start crying for more food and even though i tried pills for losing my apetite, i start eating more, than the year before, but not exagerating, now i have 10 kg of my 14kg lost, i am desparately trying to follow the diet again, but it does not work anymore, i am in panic, that i can gain all my kgs back, even may be igetiing fatter than before.
HAVE SOMEBODY ELSE EXPERIENCED THE YO-YO EFFECT AFTER FOLLOWING DUCAN’S DIET?
I DO NOT WANT TO BE FAT AGAIN, PLEASE HELP!!!!

I am beginnig to have doubts too….. It seems this “phenomenon” has been talked about, but no one has seen or heard this doctor speak on the diet, just anonomous blogs and websites. I think America needs to wait till we get all the correct info we can over here. I have been trying to go off of what I have learned just from websites, Facebook and Blogs for THREE weeks now and have only lost 4 lbs. There are no OFFICIAL websites, forums or sponsors here in the US for this diet so with the limited access to information and knowing right from wrong, it somewhat is leaving us all lost as you can see from the numerous repeated questions on these websites. Dr Dukan if you are reading this, please help 🙂

    * lean turkey mince
    * chopped onions
    * crushed chilli (if you want it spicy)
    * oat bran
    * lettuce
    * tomato
    * sliced onion
    * low fat greek yogurt
    * french mustard
    * large flat mushrooms
    * sliced bell pepper (for the mock ‘fries’)

This last comment of Jina is not good..There was a lady Marcia (comment 94 among others),whose comments were crutial for me for join the plan, because I am not the tipe for diet -I find years ago that diets are stupid, harmful etc..and don t work exept for the jo-jo efect… but as this koncept seemed so logic I joined and am very hapy on it from april,24.this year)…
If administrator still have marcia s adress, can he ask her to give her comment on Jina s… and tell as all does it still work for her..her comments sound so resonable…

(I have slow metabolism, low blod pressure,am over 50 with some menopouse fat -but not a lot ,about 5 kg,but it is real fat that become a part of me for last few years…and that stayed intact whatever phisical activity i took or modification of food intake…
until now! It realy is going off -just fat… I lose very slowly, but as i said- it is just what I need…to feel happy, full of energy and without OMENTUM-the fat on stomac..I never had it until menopause..and I hope will lose it for good with this program I am refuzing to call diet!)

This will be my 4th day on attack and I have lost 4lbs out of 30 that I want to lose. It is hard going just alternating between chicken, tuna, beef patties. But I am determined to stick it out! 26 to go!! And as I am not a big water drinker, I am proud to say that I do get in at least 2L per day and some diet sodas every once in a while. Haven’t tried the fat free/ sugar free candies yet. Still feeling tired too.

Hiya all just a question if anyone knows the answer, are chillis considered vegetables in this diet or just spices.

    May 16, 2010

Hi again, to the question of Kate, i did the 3 phases, i haven’t touch an apple for most of 3 months, i haven’t touch bread for most of 4-5 months, no rice for almost 6 months

I followed everything, written in the book and i enjoyed perfect weight for me at the age of 45years of 63 kg, but only for an year, now i am 73kg and when i started i was 78kg, not much yet to reach back what fat lady i was, unfortunately not even my nice clothes i can not fit in anymore, but most of the clothes that i was wearing at 73kg i also can not go in, i have more fat now at the same kgs, it seemed that my body remmembered the fat in my celles ans when i start eating normally it stored every possible fat back to its place, so what i gained is the same kgs but fatter.

Dr Ducan if you read this forum please jump in with an answer and advise!

It is very difficult to realize and accept, that ,after 6 months of effords and 1 year of joy, you can not escape from being fat all your life!!!!!!!

    Hi.
My name is Ana and today I started the 4th week of Dukan Diet.
I`ve lost 5.5 kg in the last 3 weeks (from 73 kg on 26.04.2010 to 67.5 kg this morning). My goal is 61-62 kg.
I didn`t find the book but I`ve asked o good frind of mine to bring it to me from UK, but she will come on August…..
In the mean time please be kind and help me: which is the correct number of oat bran tablespoons/day?
    I`m a bit confused…
Is it 3 or 1.5 tablespoons of oat bran per day?
Also, some forums mention that beside x tablespoons of oat bran/day – in the cruise phase – you have to eat also 3 TABLESPOONS OF HONEY/DAY.
    Is it true?
Thank you in advance and good luck to all of you !
    Ana

  242. vicki
    May 17, 2010

Ana my book says 1 1/2 tbl spoons oat bran a day in attack phase, then cruise is 2 tbl spoons a day and same for consolidation then after consolidation it is 3 tbl spoons a day for life. I have not read anything about the honey tho but i may have just missed it. 🙂

    Hi
I thought I share my positive experience with the Dukan diet. I have lost abt 5.5 kg over 27 days. I initially did 3days PP followed by Pv/pp/pv/pp etc.
My weight is stagnating ove last 3.days but i am targetting loss of another 4 kg.
I was concerned about the effect of the diet on kidneys. After 3 weeks on the Dukan diet, I had a blood test and I am happy to state that Urea/Sodium/potasium/Cl/creatinine were all within the acceptable range! I have been cosnsciouly drinking a lot of liquid.

I am having a severe sugar craving tho and does anyone know if splenda (aspartame) is allowed during the attack phase?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

  246. Aude

3 weeks and 2 days and I am DOWN 5 LBS !!! Yippy! 5 more to go, staying is 2nd Phase till then. When I started , I was VERY tired and no energy, but that subsided after 2 – 2 1/2 weeks.
Ordered book, should be here by next week. If you want some creative recipes check the Diet out on DuKan Diet Facebook page: lots of pointers, help, support & recipes. http://www.facebook.com/dukandiet go to Discussions then Recipes. There are tons. I just created my own recipe, mini-Crab Cakes (not on facebook). My only con regarding this diet is irregularity:(

RATHI- I use Splenda. I think he wants you to limit aspartame. Sugar Free actually makes your body continue to crave Sugar until it gets real sugar, so be careful. Look at FB for recipes on cookies, muffins, and cakes 🙂
VICKI- I use 2-3 T a day of the Oat Bran(keeps you full and somewhat regular). Also mixed a little Wheat Bran in with the Oat Bran. But I started with 1 T/ Day in ATTACK.

    Keep going 🙂

    hi everybody,
this is my 3rd day on diet and i`ve already lost over 1kg!!! 🙂 i need to lose ca 7-8 more kg and i`m where i want to be 🙂 can`t wait, reading the book AND everybody`s experiences, i`m very positive about the diet. although i`m a bit surprised, people tend to have problems with constipation, but this diet seems to have the complete oposite effect on me! 🙂 i`m really happy about it because with standard diet with carbs i`m constantly having problems, so thumbs and toes up 🙂
just wanted to ask cos i`m not 100 % sure if i`m reading it right…. the cruise faze is that for as long as i need to lose weight and then i can just go to consolidation? cos in the book it first says something about being on consolidation faze for 2days for every kg i`m losing or something…?? might`ve misread it or maybe i didn`t understand it well enough as i got the book in english and it`s not my first language.. would be very grateful if somebody could let me know 🙂
    thanks

hi all, I finished the attack phase and lost 4 kilos, very very happy as this happened in 5 days. Im starting crusing phase, yupy vegies again
Bought the book, it is brilliant, and easy to understand!!!!
To Noelle on the attack phase you need to walk every day for 20 minutes, then on the cruise phase for 30 minutes. Dr Dukan also writes tyhat if you are stuck for a week or so on the same weight, to walk for one hour 4 days and then go back to 30 minutes!!!
You can have sauces, Noelle bue the book it has great recipies for sauces , with only the allowed food.
Please guys buy the book it makes a lot of sense!!!

    Hi everyone,
I ordered the book and it should be coming this week and I hope to be started the diet around the weekend. I have a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer, number one: i’m sixteen and most diets recommend you be eighteen so will this be a problem? My doctor has told me to lose weight as my bmi is overweight at 28.5. I am also concerned about the constipation issue as I do tend to have very serious bouts with constipation and am on a medcine which I dissolve in milk. Does anyone think that just taking the oat bran will be okay, or will i have to keep taking my medicine – i am aware that milk is not allowed. Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys, big question
im pretty skinny but as I have yoyo dieted A LOT and had an eating disorder i find it very hard to lose weight. I just need to lose 2kg and thought i would go for a 5 day attack fase. problem is, its not working 🙁
i might have lost half a kg but thats it. im following all the instructions, i suppose i do eat a lot but i also exercise!
    ex day
1 large dukan pancake with 1 fat free toffee yoghurt
gym- 55 mins, 700 cal burned
diet coke, ice coffee with skinned milke sweetner
lunch- grilled fish or prawns and tofu or lean ham and diet coke
ice americano coffee with skin milk and lots of sugarfree gum
dinner- 240g prawns, smoked salmon and egg and 250g fat free cottage cheese with sweetner and cinnamon…
what am i doing wrong??? how is it possible?

  254. Sue
    May 25, 2010

I have got the book. I was disappointed when Dr Dukan said that fat raises your cholesterol and triglycerides. Yes it does raise your LDL but it also raises your HDL. The triglycerides are raised by excess carbohydrates.
Maybe Dukan is limiting fat just for a short time to ensure people lose more weight. Fat isn’t completely out as you can have some very low fat products.
Has anyone ever had any gallstone issues from going too low in fat?

    Good morning,

    Please I need your help,

I start the attack phase on 9 of May and I continue it for 9 days only and on 16 May I start weight loss until today, and I realize that I didn’t loss anything even 1 KG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Protein: I was eating grilled chicken burger without anything (no bread), grilled chicken tikka, chicken taouk, gouttege cheese, Haloomi cheese, skimmed milk all the time, egg, yogurt.
Vegetables: broccoli, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, spinach.

The only fault I did it , I’m not doing sport.!!!!!!! Only once or twice a week.

Really I’m upset from the result!!!! I want stop the diet but I’m afraid to gain more weight.

Hi everyone, what a fantastic site! I am getting married in three weeks and need to lose 6 1bs for the wedding, I havent got the book but have tried to read everything I can about the diet on here which is great. I started the Attack phase yesterday and have already lost a pound! Breakfast eggs and ham, lunch crabmeat and natural yoghurt, tea- turkey and more yoghurt. The water has not left my side, I am not missing the wine (Yet!).

Today I have mixed bran and youghurt for breakfast and am marinating chicken for lunch in lemon and Yes More Yoghurt!

    Best of luck to everyone

Hello people … just have a question: In the attack phase of the diet, are we allowed to have stock/bullion (soup base) at all? Something like Bovril or Bonox? I wouldn’t mind making a chicken soup with, ahem, chicken and stock (that’s it!).

    Hope someone knows the answer.

Hello, everyone! I’m on Dukan for 2 weeks, and I noticed that my skin is getting extremely dry (especially my hands). Now, I drink cca 3-5 L of water per day, so I sincerely doubt hydration is the problem, and I take multivitamins. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thanx, V

Kathryn – you can have stock if it has no fat

Pennycarreg – You are not meant to eat ham in the attack phase

Aisha – check the fat content of gouttege cheese, Haloomi cheese as I think they are too high

Thanks so much, Nadia. Appreciate the answer.
Re your question – yes, I think you should surge ahead to the next phase! Well done!

If anyone’s having trouble making their galettes, I think I have stumbled onto something good. Works for me! Here’s what I do:
Hello everyone. I’m new to this page and it’s Day 4 on the DD. I would like to share a little tip re the Galettes which you might find useful. I tried the pan method (bombed!). Now I make the mixture up every morning with a bit more quark than the recipe says (I make my own, seeing as how I can’t buy it where I live … easy: 9 parts no/low-fat ricotta and 1 part lite sour cream) and I thin the mixture slightly with no fat milk. For this method you will need one of those cafe grills with at least one of its plates smooth (I’ve got a smooth bottom plate and a ridged top). They all slope down at the front so prop it up level with a rolled up tea towel. Turn it to mid-heat. Get two pieces of silicon paper (baking paper) big enough to cover the cafe grill bottom hot plate. Put one piece down when the grill’s ready, gently pour half your mix (about the consistency of thickish pouring cream) onto the silicon paper and top with the second piece and close the lid. The paper keeps the grill clean (alleluia!) and keeps the galette nicely intact. You can see through the paper if it’s done or not. When done, slide the whole thing off the grill and (careful, it’s hot!) onto a plate, taking the paper off top and flipping it over to remove it from the bottom. I can’t believe how well this works – no mess – and you get two galettes instead of one! Give it a go! KB

Pennecarreg, I’ve been eating ham in the attack phase, too, so I looked it up in the book. It seems you are allowed lean ham (I buy the 97% fat-free Primo one … but there are heaps on the market) during the attack phase. Best to you. KB

For those of you who suffer from constipation, senna pods are good. Start with 3 or 4 pods in a cup and pour over hot water, just like making a cup of tea. Let it stand for 5 minutes before drinking. If this doesn’t move your bowels, add more pods. You can have several cups of this tea per day. You can also add pods to your normal pot of tea. This is a good way of being able to manage your bowel habits as you can add or lessen the number of senna pods as you need.

    Need some advice!!

Lovely to see such varied and detailed accounts from everyone about their experiences. I started phase 2 of my diet two days ago after having amazing results with the attack phase, 8 pounds lost in the attack phase which I’m sure a lot of it is water, but still it really gave me massive hope. I’m a little worried though as the past couple of days I’ve felt more tired than normal, irritable and achy more than I’ve ever felt before in my life. I’m worried that I’m lacking something. I’m drinking 1 and a half litres per day which is what Dukan suggests. I have a 7 month old and feel tired anyway, and I don’t think i can cope with MORE tiredness on top!

By the way the trick with the oat bran galettes is to make it to the recipe, pour it into the preheated pan and not move it about just let it find it’s own shape, leave it to cook one side without touching then flip it over after 2 mins and leave it. If you start to push it about it sticks to the pan, let it cook first a bit like when you do a pancake!

    Good luck everyone!!!

I read a page on site by some woman who said that she has read the book about the dukan diet. She whent on to say that the dukan iet is just another diet and if anyone has had difficulty maintaining a diet plan in the past then the dukan diet will not come as a savour
I tend to agree its not about the diet plan but losing weight is about the mind set of the dieter here is her article

    Aisha:
I think you have skipped the ATTACK phase, did you?
Your comment: Protein: I was eating grilled chicken burger without anything (no bread), grilled chicken tikka, chicken taouk, gouttege cheese, Haloomi cheese, skimmed milk all the time, egg, yogurt.
Vegetables: broccoli, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, spinach.
–I have notice that you have VEGETABLES on your menu. I think you can have vegetable only when you are on 2nd phase (at least 3rd day of the plan) this might be why weight lost is soo slow. Because you need to be on PP (Pure Protein) for at least 2 days, to have get the result for kick start
Another reason is that women have hard time to loose weight During MC.
I have started the diet 12 days ago, I have done Attack phase 8 days, the first 7 days I have lost 6 lb and I cannot lost any weight anymore. I tought that I was on menapose, because my MC did not come for 9 months, but 5 days after the diet, it came, since my weight stuck on the 8th day, I have starts to have vegetable on thenight of day 8. I have a very bad constipation, my weight was stuck for the whole week, yesterday I have manage to have some tea trying to go to the washroom. Yes! I did go. So, my weight start dropping today, I am on my 5th day of PL, I plan to do 5/5 since they said it is the most effective result on Dr. Dukan report. I will continue to read and also continue my weight lost journey with you guys.
Thank everybody for the comment; it is a good encouragement for me to continue the diet.

I would like to share my experience with the Dukan Diet. I live in Canada and was not able to find an English version of the book, so I started the diet based on what I found on the web. I was finally able to order the book from Amazon online and will get it soon, however, I have already lost 9 (of the 60) lbs in just two weeks. I am very excited and can’t wait to continue with the book.

I was wondering if I can take vitamins while doing this dukan diet?e.g. Calcium, multi, vitamin c, vitamin d, iron, omega3, iodine, and other multi vitamins for energy, fatigue, lethargy, stress and adrenal support. etc… all given by a naturopath and recommened by my doctor.
as you can see i’m taking quite a bit, but these vitamins are the only thing that keeps me going, if I stop taking them for 1 – 2 days I’m very lethargic, fatigued and stressed, i get headaches, dizzy etc… All the reasons why I started taking them to begin with.
And cause I need to loose weight, atleast 15kg, to get down to my normal weight range.
Can I keep taking all these and still have the same results?

    Thanks

Hi everyone. I am on this wonderful diet since 4 weeks now. I have lost 7 kilos but have done one great diviation form the rule: I do not go from PL to PP phase at all. After the initial pure-protein phase, I am all the time on protein-legume. I can’t live without vegetables. But I did do the strict first 7 days of PP. Also, I am stricly following all other rules. So, what do you think? Will I succeed? Or will I get stuck at some weight and lose no more? Does anybody have any experience like mine? I have a loooot to lose still, another 25 kilos :O(

I have a gluten intolerance, and also hyperglycaemia (low blood sugar) and low blood pressure. I have about 3 kilos that id like to loose and have done 2 days of the initial phase. I felt dizzy during the 2nd day and finally had a banana, not realizing that was forbidden! Whats your advice, should i start again, or just continue with the 1PP/1PL? I have a heaped Tblsp of ground flax seed and 1tsp psyllium husks on my youghurt in the mornings, instead of the oat bran as im sure the oat bran is not gluten free. Is this diet worth doing without the oatbran? And also how would you advise me to manage the low blood sugar symptoms with the low carb intake? If i was to have a Tblsp of gluten free muesli in the mornings, how would that affect the results?
    Thanks for a great site.

    Hi!!!
Started my Dukan Diet on 28th June and did Attack Phase for 5 days during which time I lost 4lb.
Have been on Cruise Phase since then and had lost another 4lb but over the last 2 days have put on a lb each day when I weighed myself! I have not cheated on the diet at all as I keep a diary of everything I’m eating. I do feel slightly constipated though – does anyone think that this may be the cause of the apparent weight gain? I want to lose about another stone.

Cooking the oatbran with cinnamon in microwave with a little skim milk, watch so it doesn’t boil over. Let it set to room temp. it will thicken and then add it to a container of fat free milk and shake it up and drink. It is really good. the cooking softens the oatbran

Which differ a little form what is mentioned in the article above.

    Hi!

I started the Diet on Aug 15th and today Nov 25th I have lost 14kg and I feel great. I did have a couple of really weird days, someone above mentions that, indeed, I found that I had lost 1kg in 2 days, that messed me up but has never happened again. Fear not, but listen to your body. It was just a violent drop for me at the one point, that’s all.
You can make bread with the oat and wheat bran if you like:
1tbsp wheat bran, 2tbsp oat bran, 1tbs fat free yog, 1 egg + 1 egg white, 1/2 tsp baking powder and any spices you like (for sweet breads, add a splash of liquid sweetener of course, and a little salt for savoury breads).
Cocoa powder MUST be with a max of 11% fat, so anything above that is a big no-no. And it’s 1tsp/day as a tolerated. Give up tolerated ingredients if you stagnate.
For constipation, eat spicy food, such as a mint and curry omelette, a palak paneer with chili etc.

Good luck and be obedient, eat lots and lots and drink at least 2 litres of green tea.
    IT WORKS!

I agree, this diet is working. Even if you slip and go off, say vacation. You can just start over. 8 lbs. till goal for me and 6 lbs. for my husband. Just don’t give up, and each time it gets easier and you understand the process. It is a change of the way you think about food. We have noticed that when you do go off, you really feel like crap and try to remember that feeling, and it makes you not want to slip up. Just a little dessert recipe for you. one 16 oz carton of non fat greek yogurt and a small box of fat free, sugar free flavored jello. Just mix and eat, we love the lemon and strawberry. Happy Dukan

I have been on this diet for one month now and managed to lose some 8 lbs. (quite honestly, i expected to lose more). I was in Paris last week, so I bought the book which says that one of the reasons for not losing weight (sometimes at all) is if you are on hormone replacement therapy, on which I am. So although I’m doing everything right, the weight to come off is very slow, but i’m not frustrated and am enjoying the diet so much. I don’t have much more to lose (maybe 3 kilos) …. and because i travel a lot and eat in restaurants, i am not so confident that when i order grills without fat, i get it. Therefore, when i am back home, i go back to phase one for 3 to 5 days. I have created so many delicious meals. one of my favorite is to spray fillet pieces with non fat spray and sprinkle with coarse black pepper …. then fry in the presto until very golden …. add water and close the presto for 45 minutes – add chopped spinach if you are on PL. open the presto, then add 2 tablespoons of Bisto (fat & sugar free granuales that thickens soups and sauces). add vinegar generously …. and eat !!! YUMMMMMY !!!!! also i did an omlette with cubed and bearly boiled zucchini and served it with cubed cucumber, tomatoe and mushrooms … the dressing i did was so exciting and delicious .. i blended one tablespoon of skimmed philadelphia cheese with yellow mustard, freshly cracked black pepper corns and a generous sprinkle of vinegar …. try it … you’ll love it …. i will be eating my heart out on Christmas eve and on new year’s eve … who can resist on these two occasions !!!??? then back to business as usual !!! also in the dukan book it mentions that you can have one or two or as much as you want paraffin oil which you can buy from the pharmacy to avoid constipation …. but you have to be careful so that you don’t have it tooooooo loooooooose in the wrong places. Paraffin oil must not be heated … can be taken in a teaspoon since it is oderless and tasteless – simply flat in taste …..
enjoy experimenting in soups …. which you can also thicken with a whisked egg …. let me know if anyone is encoutering problems while on HRT …

My husband and I are loving this diet. When we fall off for a party or travel, We just start over. One recipe we use almost every day. Cook some ground turkey breast add some pepper and fennel seeds, it will taste just like sausage to go in omlet. It is easy to find Fat Free cheeses now days.
Also Fat Free Cottege cheese is great. For a Pizza crust, I put Cauliflower, oatbran, egg white, and a little greek yogurt, garlic in processor. Spray pan and then bake, when nice and golden add your toppings. Veggies and fat free cheese.
Dessert greek yogurt and fat free, sugar free jello. Lemon is the best.

I just started the diet and crossing my fingers that it works for me. Three questions- 1) It’s very diffficult to find fat free yogurt where I am so is it possible to just drink fat free (0%) milk- are we allowed to DRINK milk as it says to use it in coffee, flans, etc., but never mentions that we can drink it? 2) Gum- it’s a salvation and gets you chewing on something else to get your mind off your growling smomach. It is allowed and if so, are there particular types, or is it okay to pick anything? and 3) I’ll use spiced boiled chicken for example: how much can we eat in one setting? Yesterday I sat down to a full chicken breast and hadn’t realized I finished it all until I looked at my empty plate. I perfer eating bigger meals rather than snacking all day long. What is better and if smaller meals, how many times and how much in each setting? Thank you for your help! 🙂

Yes, and you can have diet soda. Just watch the ones with sodium add. We were gone for 2 weeks on vacation. gained a few. But got right back on schedule and within days back down. Trying to lose 10 more lbs.

Just found this website and think it’s brilliant! I am now starting the second week of the ‘cruise’ phase of the Dukan Diet – so far I have lost six pounds, which doesn’t seem a lot but it’s a third of my target weight goal, so I’m quite pleased. Only problem I’m having is being constipated. I drink two litres or more of water a day and have the oatbran gallete every morning but that doesn’t seem to help. I notice that some people are suggesting flaxseed oil or Senna and even cinnamon to help with ‘regularity’ so, will give it a go. Just received my Dukan Diet recipe book! Looking forward to reading it. Good luck to everyone!

    Dear friends,

Long time I don’t come here, and I want to give my comments about how I’ve been doing with my weight. In summary, I started the diet in 2008. It took me 8 months to lose 25kgs, 250 days of maitenance and since Nov 2009, I keep doing the 1 day a week full protein.
I keep my body in the same format, using exactly the same clothes size and I had a small variation in the weight, that I think is connected to the hormones (pre-menopause) + muscle mass (I am now walking more, what I think is contributing to this variance).
I prefer to use the clothes as my termometer, and not only the escale.
I confess that, when having some indulgence, I gain a kilo or 2, but I immediatly come back to the diet, following all steps.
My conclusion is that once you do a diet in your life, you have to keep paying attention to the weight forever. This is the most significant change I had: I changed the way I eat, and I know my body much better. I can now control what I eat and when.
This is very personal, but, I encourage all of you to go in this journey, with body AND soul. It’s no easy, I know. It took me many diets and many years to understand that. But, if you commit to yourself, it will work 🙂 🙂

    Hi Marcia,
It is great to hear from someone who lost the weight and kept it off. I am going to start the diet for the second time with the commitment to stick to it fully this time round. I lost 6kg when I tried it for the first time and just decided I will skip the Phase3 and as you can imagine I put it all back on- my appetite was uncontrollable – it was a force driving me to eat! It is inspirational to know someone did it from the beginning till the end and had the right result – Congratulations!

@Sallyjane and others asking questions about oat bran:

“Oat bran has 2 unique properties that bring about some very positive weight loss effect. As soon as any amount of our miracle bran hits your stomach it begins to transform into what I would describe as a real sticky, viscous “sponge” that help you losing weight more than you may even imagine.”

I’m a vegetarian that eats all seafood and dairy and I’ve found the diet easy to follow. My question is about non-fat yogurt…has anyone tried Cascade non-fat vanilla? The book says if it’s fruit flavored (the the vanilla contains fruit juices) you can only have 8 oz/day. I was going to use this as my “dessert”, but is that yogurt approved?

Madgreen82, I also gained 3 pounds in the 1st day actually. I ended up eating the oat bran every morning and increased my water intake. Also try to make sure to walk for 20 minutes a day. Don’t give up, it’ll kick in.

jood, I have been using splenda from the beginning. In my coffe and tea, in my oat bran and yogurt. Anything where I need that sweetness. Another thing that I’ve been doing to help my cravings is buying sugar free candies. It’s amazing the kind that are out there if you look. I’ve even had candies that taste like reeses peanut butter cups.

HI! Okay so I’ve read Pierre’s book and done a ton of research. I’ve even convinced my mom to join me in the weight loss journey. We are both in the Attack phase but are looking ahead for the future meal plans. But I have a few questions.

    1. In Pierre’s book he says do not exceed 1 1/2 tablespoons of oat bran. However, in his recipe for “Dukan’s Oat Bran Galette,” the recipe calls for 2 table spoons of oat bran. I’m not sure what to do. Also some recipes online call for 3 tablespoons in order to make a pizza crust or muffins. Does that mean in one day I cannot have both a piece of pizza and a muffin? Why is oat bran restricted?

    2. In addition to oat bran, am I allowed to eat Flax Seed? It is similar to oat bran in that it helps you “evacuate,” on a regular basis. I’m not sure if flax seed plus oat bran would be too much? But if I can’t have an unlimited amount of oat bran then I would like to replace it with something. What about corn or wheat meal? Any suggestions?

    3. My mother and I drink Almond milk and Rice milk. Sometimes we even mix them together in cereal. The Almond milk says it has zero saturated fat, cholesterol or trans fat. But on the back it says “Calories from Fat 30.” And that “Total Fat is 3.5.” or “5%.” I’m unsure about the Rice milk since we don’t have any in the house right now. My question is, am I able to drink Almond milk (and hopefully Rice milk) without restriction? Is it considered non-fat?

    4. I don’t know if this is asking too much of the community but there is this website that has multiple recipes for every phase of the Dukan diet. I’m new to this so I’m not sure how many of them actually follow the diet. Would anyone be willing to look at the site and respond with their comments? Some of them look so amazing! There is even a cookie recipe using oat bran. I would love to make some of these with my mom. We’re Italian…so living without pasta and bread and cream and fatty fat fat cheese has been rather painful. Sigh.

Please check out the site! It would be incredibly helpful.

every other day worked best for me..
my goal was 13 lbs.. lost that in 70 days..
    now going to phase 3..
found marinading chicken tenders in fat free salad dressings and bbq sauce gives me a selection on protein days.. i cut them into chunks and put them in glass dishes with plastic wrap, the next day i microwave them for 3 minutes.. usually do 2 or 3 different flavors for a variety and eat the chunks as snacks

finding a variety of protein flavors was the key for me

I’m 5’6 and usually around the mid 140’s with my weight. I just started my 3rd week of the Cruise phase and was 131 sunday (PP). I am 133 today (VP). When I orginially calculated my “true weight,” Dukan said I could get to 126. My goal is 120 but I was hoping to be satisfied by 126. I calculated my “true weight” again using the same numbers I used initially. And now it’s saying my “true weight” is 130! Basicallyl what I am now. I’m not sure if I’m just not being patient enough but the constant weight flux has be incredibly disheartened. I’m 20 years old. I really want to lose the 15-20 pounds I set out to do. Is this just not in the cards for me?

    Hello

I have been on the dukan diet for 10days now. In my initial stage of the attack phrase, i lost 2 kgs… and now i am on the cruise stage… its been 5 days today… i have lost 1 kg and every now and then when i check it shows that i have lost that 1 kg or gained another 0.5kg, meaning if my weight is now 72, it would appear as 72kg or 72.5kg for the past 3 days… I have read that on vegetable days, i may put on or not lose at all… i was going through few articles on the diet and saw that alot of people lost more than i did. i am curious why. i have been reading the book carefully and following everything which i dont know why didnt work somehow to losing more and more…. could you help me on this? and also i drink 2.5 litres every day without fail.

Time to celebrate! I started the Dukan diet 5/1/11 needing to lose 62 pounds (28kg). This morning (10/9), the scale showed I’ve reached my goal weight! Yes, it took 5 months with more than a few week-long plateaus where there was no weight loss (or gain) so this is not a “get skinny fast” plan. But stay true to the diet’s guidelines and you will make it. I followed the rules as closely as I could, but I travel for a living and it’s tough to have your scheduled PP days and 30-min walks running through airport fast food restaurants and dining with clients. But you can do it. I always boarded a plane with a “packed lunch” of grilled chicken strips (great if you add some spices), a big bottle of water, and my Dukan “pancake” (I love to add a pretty big helping of cinnamon) sliced in wedges — that way, it was pretty easy to deny the snacks offered. Most restaurants will let you order simple custom meals (no one ever denied me a grilled chicken breast with steamed vegetables). It sometimes takes a bit of adjustment of your PP and PV days to ensure my meals with clients would allow me veggies. Occasionally, my body just craved more veggies (nice!) so I’d add an extra PV day – probably slowed my weight loss just a tiny bit, but it was a healthy “cheat.” I’ve had the added pressure of being a single mom to 3 sons who are all collegiate athletes and they need to eat a TON of carbs just to maintain their weight. But they know my program and have helped keep me motivated. I’m down 3 dress sizes and at my recent high school reunion, the compliments were extremely empowering. Now, I jump into my lengthy stabilization phase. My sons are taking me out for my first celebratory meal tonight! They surprised me completely – they don’t have much free time due to their college studies, games, practices, conditioning sessions, etc. But they were excited by my progress and they earned the money secretly over the last few weeks by finding neighbors willing to pay a few dollars for them to do yard work. It’s worth every moment of temptation I overcame during the diet when my boys tell me how proud they are of me.

    Here’s a detailed list for phase I: http://thedukandiet.info/dukan-diet-phase-1-menu/

and then sth called Dukan Diet safe Food Lits

In short, there’s no much sense in using soya milk. It’s only called milk. If you can’t eat milk products replace them with fish, meat and so on. If you are sensitive to gluten (that’s why you mentioned non-wheat products?) here some detailed info on oat bran and its alternatives in Dukan Diet: http://thedukandiet.info/oat-bran-dukan-diet-2/
